After a cold icy winter I finally am able to periodically ride around sans the freedom panels.
I rode around last fall with out them a few time. Back roads and trails. Slow and just enjoying the top front off and all Windows down, back window open. Never noticed any change in MPG.
Now, first couple times out with freedom panels off we have been on the interstate. What I did not expect, straight line at 65 mph on level I get 30-32 mpg instantaneous reading. With panels on its only 26-27 mpg.
This goes totally against my logic. Wouldn't the rear part of
The roof, even with the little window open, act as a kind off parachute? Evidently not.
Hopefully when doors and full top of it may be similar results. Not really important either way. Just a observation I did not expect.
FYI. Auto 35" x 12.5" x 17" BFG KO2. T/A, JTR with leveling kit. Not far off stock condition.
