Unknown bracket

Any idea what this bracket is for? It’s just behind the right front tire. The Drivers side doesn’t have it. Thanks in advance. I didn’t know what to call it so my search came up empty.

It’s to increase crash test ratings. Basically keeps the tire from crushing the passenger area in a front quarter crash.

I forget what it is, but there is something about the drivers side that the offset crash testing does not show as bad of cabin intrusion as the passenger side.

Could it be the way the axle is laid out? With the pumpkin/shorter end on the drivers side?

That could be it. The FAD is passenger side oriented and is a known weak link and I can see that side of the axle breaking apart in a passenger side offset impact and pushing the passenger side wheel, axel and knuckle assembly farther into the passenger side compartment
