Wow. That's identical to my 22 Tundra right down to the headlights.

That looks nothing like the tundra lol I see more 3rd gen . The front looks more tacoma then the dreaded lip on the tundra

Does it come with disk brakes?

Edit: just clicked the link LOL - this looks just like the new Frontier to me. Are there not any original designs anymore? The new Frontier looked like the Taco and the Tacos looks just like the new Frontier.

The styling is in line with Toyota's current language. What I want to see is how this will affect the next 4Runner. It is well overdue for a refresh. That chassis has been in production since 2009. That is forever in car years, even by Toyota standards. IIRC it is the only other mid size body on frame SUV in the market aside from Wrangler and Bronco.

Competitive in what way?

IMO there is zero competition to the Gladiator other than maybe the Wrangler. Solid front axle is different in to many ways than a IFS.

Looks like a Taco. I never had any issues with the styling of the current truck, I think it’s pretty decent looking. I’m hoping they update the obsolete mechanicals, cheap interior, and mediocre driving experience.

Is it different? Yes. Is it wildly different than the outgoing? No. This would not sway me from buying the new iteration over the old. I love Tacomas. We ordered our then new '16 in September 2015. Loved that little pickup. Maybe some new powertrain would convince someone. But my '16 we ordered 4cyl 5spd 4x4. I love Toyota 2.7s though we had a TRD OffRoad with the 4.0/6 speed before the '16 and had a '16 4Runner with the 4.0/auto for a couple years. Our '16 Tacoma got totalled and by then Toyota dropped the 4 banger 5 speed 4x4 as an orderable powertrain. I went to a JK after that and havent bought another Toyota since. I'd be interested in a simple reliable 4cyl 4x4 with a manual transmission again if they made it. But it would be in addition to, never going to replace my JT.

Diesel option?
Removable top and doors?
Solid axles and selectable lockers F&R?
4:1 T-case?
Competiton for JT? Nope.

Toyota should also include a 3' cheater pipe to loosen any nut or bolt on their vehicles.

Why would they need a cheater pipe when you can just wait for it to rust loose in 1 year?
