Did a quick two night three day trip at our fav river spot. Successful and with my 120watt solar my 75ah battery stayed above 80%. Ran the fridge, lights, charged phones easily. Added another battery today, still 12v but 150ah total. Diesel heater should be here tomorrow. The goal is 7-10 day trips and not being totally reliant on solar.

What for batteries are you using? I'm trying to decide what kind to get.

Just two wet deep cycle 75ah batteries. Nothing fancy, cheap and easy to replace if needed. They come from Canadian Tire which is in just about every town and city in Canada. I figured if something goes wrong I can likely replace one without much drama.

That's cool. I will most likely end up going with (2) 100Ah Gel batteries, but I am not to keen on the weight of those monsters. I've watched about 20 videos regarding Lithium Iron batteries, but despite how bad ass they are for solar, I simply cannot afford them right now.

I really need to do one of those outlet deals on the outside but I REALLLLY dont want to cut into this. I probably should do a house battery though like you did. hhhmmm... Youre costing me money! lol

The NOCO plug has been awesome. Worth every penny! Next is a NOCO charger/maintainer.

So I weighed mine today “empty”, which includes batteries, fridge, awning, rtt and the trailer itself with spare. 1256lbs. So I’m about to order Timbrens but im not sure if 2000lb HD is enough. Water weight is 112lbs full, diesel heater will add about 30lbs and food weight is maybe another 30lbs. Small little items will add say 150lb that includes sleeping bags, cots, pillows and chairs on the heavy side. That puts me under 1500lbs loaded. Is 500lbs leeway enough? Might call Timbren

When I talked them about that very same question, they told me that you shouldn't go more than 75%-80% of the axle's capacity. Maybe that helps?

I spoke to an engineer today. He told me the 2000lb HD 4” would work fine. I dont expect to be over 1700lbs loaded. Thats above that percentage but this coming straight from the horses mouth. I was overzealous in my weight too. Im hoping to keep it under 1600lbs. He told me the 3500lbs would make my trailer bounce a bit more.

2000lbs ordered with 2500lbs bearings.

todays update:
