I hope someone can help me here.
My 8.4 radio system has always worked perfectly ('23 Gladiator Rubicon) and a couple of days ago my Iphone software was updated. When I got in the Jeep I noticed my Apple CarPlay would not work and I find that the 2 USB ports are not hot (I dont know how else to describe them but they are not highlighted as they were before where you pick from USB or select your source). I have checked fuse F51 and its good.

I feel that there is a direct correlation between the software update on the phone and the Uconnect quit functioning

So the USB ports are dead. Can you connect your iPhone to Uconnect via blue tooth? Yes you won't get CarPlay but at least you be able to play music, use the phone controls.

BTW I just upgraded by iPhone 14 to 18.2.2 and all is still working. I too have the 8.5 in my '21

Thanks- yes, I can connect thru Bluetooth and get music but that is all
Mine was working fine before upgrading software to 18.2.2

Well I’m still on 18.1 so this gives me pause. Have you tried plugging anything else into the usbs to see if they charge?

I’ve heard of car play not working but to disable the ports would be a whole new level of bug 🤔

The phone does charge but no Apple Play and the ports aren’t not highlighted where you select a source

Gotcha, something you could try is to uninstall the update and see if that reverts it

I'm running 18.2 on iPhone 16 Pro USB-C to USB-C via the front port no issues.

If you are running any beta software you should be reporting this to Apple, this isn't an issue with the Jeep its an issue with the beta software. If you are running beta you should know how to report it to Apple.

2022 Mojave, iPhone 16 Pro, always updated to the latest, use a CarlinKit 2Air Wireless USB Adapter for Apple CarPlay (connected inside console) and have no issues.

I do have one “dead spot” in my daily commute where it disconnects momentarily, but reconnects itself quickly. That happened before the latest iOS update.

After you check with another phone, try a new (if available) cord. My Android gets buggy with Android auto after about a year use or less, new cord and all bugs gone.....

Had the same issue. Turn your phone completely off and restart it, that’s what worked for me

OP said USB ports of the Jeep are not being activated or selectable so I'd look at the Uconnect head for a solution.
