Using Factory Fog light switch

Wife and I are planning on a new bumper in the spring. We have the factory LED fog lights in the factory bumper. We had picked out a bumper that allows for the factory fogs to be reused. However upon more research we found a Bumper that we can have shipped with either 5 cube lights or a 20" light bar. Does anyone know if it is possible to wire the cube lights or bar, depending on what we go with, directly to the factory switch? The factory LED package was non negotiable when we bought our Mojave. We planned on adding extra lighting one way or the other. However the Bumper we have in the list doesn't accommodate the fog lights in lieu of the Light upgrade they offer. I don't want to have a perfectly good switch going unused on the dash. However I also don't want the truck giving codes and warning lights because it doesn't like the new lighting set up.

Heck, give it a try, worst case blow a fuse - then just replace the fuse and install a relay.

You would proably need to know they exact draw of the cubes. If close to the factory no reason they should not work.

I swapped out my fogs for Diode Dynamics SS3 lights. They work perfectly w the factory switch.

I did it on my JKU and the JT and had no issues. I just spliced into to factory harness for the Halogens I had. Fog lights wont throw a code like headlights and tail lights will, you will be fine. I switched out now and have the current setup on it's own switch and went to just led bulbs in the new bumper.

Keep in mind, unless you have a tazer, your fog lights turn off with high beam.

You can get them to stay on with a JScan also.

I don't got any photos sorry. I'm not running them like that now, I switched bumpers and I went back to the stock fog lights with led bulbs. It's as easy as just splicing into the stock harness with wire taps.

Easy process if you have the correct pigtails. I have done this on several vehicles and platforms

I don't got any photos sorry. I'm not running them like that now, I switched bumpers and I went back to the stock fog lights with led bulbs. It's as easy as just splicing into the stock harness with wire taps.

Thank you for the quick reply, I have this set up now. Took my old connector off my stock bumper and tapped in but the only flicker every 10 seconds. Not sure what to go after next, possibly a relay?

Use one of the current connectors towards a relay. Isolates the lights and power from melting down backwords. Real darn basic non-mechanic description.

I have a relay protecting the circuit for a simple cube I use for back up. The relay is activated by low volt off the 7 PIN back up wire, rest of the circuit is high power off the battery (or empty fuse space-can't remember) with a fuse.

I just did 3 circuits with overkill on a side by side (Massimo Buck 450)..\ Simple 9 Inch bar out front, simple 2 small rectangle's out he back and 4 rock lights form Harbor Freight, all LED, each on their own circuit, own switch and own relay. 3 Relays may have been overkill, OR they just make good sense.

With that many lights going on the new bumper, use a relay.

These Jeeps are not ones you want to take lightly with electrical changes, IMO.

I appreciate it, helps out a lot. Not overkill at all, that's quality for sure.

The fog light circuit is sized to handle halogen lights, so it’s most likely going to be able to handle ~5A.
So if your LED lights draw less than 5A, you won’t need a relay.
5A is a LOT for LEDs.
