About to do my first oil change and was wondering what everyone else was using.
There's a couple of other threads on this topic......... along with what filters others are using.

I use an oil from the top 5 or 10 of a list I have. I use number 4 below on my other vehicles - and will likely use one of the Amsoil oils in the JT, or perhaps will use #4 in this, too, when the Jeep Wave changes are up. I can't buy a good oil and filter and dispose of use for free, so I take advantage of the wave changes for now.

I've been using Mobil 1 full synthetic in my 4.0 engines with fantastic luck.

I use what is proven good by science and technology, not what others claim is good, so I tend to run counter on these things - other than a lot of folks agree the Mobil 1 and Amsoil oils are good.

2. 0W20 Amsoil Signature Series, synthetic = 134,840 psi

3. 5W30 Amsoil Signature Series, synthetic = 134,352 psi

4. 5W30 Renewable Lubricants Super High Performance Passenger Vehicle Bio-SynXtra motor oil = 130,436 psi

6. 0W40 Mobil 1 “FS” European Car Formula, ACEA A3/B3, A3/B4, API SN, synthetic = 127,221 psi

7. 5W30 Renewable Lubricants HD Super High Performance Bio-SynXtra motor oil = 125,250 psi

8. 0W20 Quaker State Ultimate Durability, API SN, synthetic (originally gold, now green bottle) = 124,393 psi

Which engine?

Pentastar: Supertech 5W30 synthetic. $15 for 5 quarts, and fantastic protection and analysis results.

EcoDiesel: Motul X-Cess 5W40 synthetic. Apparently this is one of the best oils in the world, and it's relatively cheap at $7 per quart. Although, Valvoline European 5W40 also is great.

Buy whatever 0-20 is on sale, change it yourself @ 5.000 mile intervals , with a mopar \Wix filter . best bang for buck .

I wouldn’t use the Jeep wave if they paid me to do it, the one time I took my JK in for a leaking rear axle under warranty they put the lug nuts back on way too tight, took a huge breaker bar to get them off. Can’t trust them to do anything right, so many horror stories of over filled, under filled, full cap left off, drain bolt cross threaded, no thanks.

It's not the shops here I have a big problem with - it's the sales people, especially the so-called "sales managers".
