The first mod will most likely be removing the ugly Rubicon lettering from the hood. The original Rubicon lettering on my '03 and even my '13 was subtle and attractive. New bulbous lettering is awful. When I bought my Scrambler in 1982, I removed the hood decals within minutes of getting it home. Paint was different back then. In the time it sat on the dealer's lot, the paint had faded enough so that, if you get it in the right light today, you can still see a faint outline of the original decals.

The second mod will be doing something about the bizarre red dash.

If I can swing the Rubicon from the get go... just minor stuff like;

  • door sill protectors
  • driver/passenger window tinting
  • phone holder
  • matte black grill
  • rubber mats

If I have to, I'll move my current trailer brake over... hoping the Mopar version is out by mid-late summer. Past that, first expensive purchase will be a topper of some sort.

If I end up with an Overland,
OEM steel front winch bumper & mounting plate
Likely: Rubicon black fenders + Rubi wheels, & tires
Brake controller
TruTrac rear limited slip
Diamondback 3-door hard tonneau
Egr & DEF delete probably before 20K miles

My first mod was 1941 emblems, 1941 sill guards, electric brake control, and pin striping, now next is winch and winch bumper. Then a black Matt hood glare vinyl install, tall grass back window screen followed by a tall grass camo wrap up to lower door hinges, and chip paint protection across the front of the hood.
