Think of it as a power interrupter that is controlled by my Aux button inside the cab of the truck. When I click the aux button to on, that solenoid allows power to now flow from the battery through the solenoid to the winch so I can use it. If I click the aux button to off the solenoid stops power from my battery to the winch making the winch inoperable. The reason you would want this is in the event you are in a collision or one of the power cables is severed you have no power going to the winch to prevent an electrical fire or short.Someone help me, a non-car-guy, understand why you would wire the winch to a solenoid? I installed a Warn winch and wired it straight to the battery. Did I miss something?
