Someone help me, a non-car-guy, understand why you would wire the winch to a solenoid? I installed a Warn winch and wired it straight to the battery. Did I miss something?
Think of it as a power interrupter that is controlled by my Aux button inside the cab of the truck. When I click the aux button to on, that solenoid allows power to now flow from the battery through the solenoid to the winch so I can use it. If I click the aux button to off the solenoid stops power from my battery to the winch making the winch inoperable. The reason you would want this is in the event you are in a collision or one of the power cables is severed you have no power going to the winch to prevent an electrical fire or short.

Impressive! As a woodworker myself, that seems like a big pain in the ass, but you've inspired me, I might have to steal your idea, HAHA!!
I canā€™t take all of the creditā€¦only part of it. I had the concept, but the execution was done by my buddy, who own a custom cabinet business. He used Cedar as itā€™s much lighter than yellow pine. The bottom part is 2ā€ and after we finish the wood work weā€™ll seal the bottom portion with several urethane coats and Iā€™ll attach a D-bulb seal. Even though I have a hard tri-fold and the tailgate /bed seal is installed I still have some water enter the rear of the bed and get some things wet/damp. Heā€™s going to round all edges and the board made to go between the wheel wells is made to go vertical instead of horizontal. The bottom rear board took little time as he is a wiz with his band saw. The top rear board is a 2x6 and is made to be expendible. Iā€™d I or we get stuck it can be used to jam under a tire. He actually is toying with an idea to carve a pattern in 1 side of it for traction.

Among other vehicles they have, JL that heā€™s not wanted to spend a ton of money on as he has another money pitā€¦see photos below. Heā€™s been very resourceful on FB market place with ruby fenders, let lights, jlud suspension and installed 35x11.5 on stock wheels with 1.5 spacers, all for pennies on the dollar.

Very nice! Must be a perfectionist.
Heā€™s good. When he started rolling I was trying to follow him and it just came out. Heā€™s really solid fella. Good head on his shoulders.

Search the forum for "winch" and "solenoid" and you'll find a wealth of info. Well worth the legwork.

Borla Touring Crawler exhaust. I know exhaust isnā€™t the most common or favorite of mods, but I like the sleeker look. Also definitely much lighter. This is a very tame muffler, though, sound is negligible, but thatā€™s what I wanted. A bit deeper under WOT, but zero drone and very quiet at cruising speed.

Could I trouble you for a sound clip? A little rev action, and idle. Odds are, if I change the exhaust, I'd be looking at Borla. I like a lil more sound to help me drive, instead of a silent vehicle with the vaguest clutch I have ever experienced, lmfao

If you want more sound, you would need the Sport model at minimum. The Touring almost feels quieter than stock at idle/cruising...just a different tone under load.

Gotcha! I have a history of "way too loud" exhausts, so I will be treading lightly on this one for sure, lmfao
