Finally finished up my CB install with great grounds and SWR < 2.0. Mounted the unit behind the glove box and routed the mic to the grab bar through the console. Very stealth. The mic clip didn’t match my mount’s holes and I didn’t want to drill it out (good thing since it broke on the first use), so I still need to get a better mic holder. This one is also a little too low as it is hitting the tune knob. But it will work for my camping trip this weekend!

Line X done. I couldn’t find one in Sting Gray with the other options that I wanted and the factory spray in so the dealership had it done as part of the deal. I got my Bluetooth speaker too. My Jeep came from a dealer trade and it was missing. Next is a stubby antenna and black emblems. I hate the chrome. I might try plastidip or the stickers I see online. Doing to small ticket items while I save up for tires and a Sunrider for my hardtop.

On a side note, the Mopar soft tri-fold cover come on and off really easily. It seals really well too. It hasn’t leaked a drop. Not even in the touch free car wash the other day.

Drove it to the dealer for what is probably a rear main seal leak. Wonder how long this will take to fix. Driving a RAM now till it’s fixed.

Had my MC 3.5” GC installed. Paired with Falcon 3.3 Fast Adjust. I bought it with a leveling kit on it already but dealer couldn’t tell me which one or measurements. With leveling kit I was at roughly 39” high from ground to bottom of fender now it’s about 42”. Included some before and after with some other detail photos. 1st 2 pictures are before. Running Nitto Ridge Grappler 35x12.5x17 on ProComp LaPaz 39 series wheels.

Would like to hear what quality of reception you get with the antenna that low. I like that setup and was thinking of using the same but have some apprehension about the antenna length not being high enough to get a good signal, but your 2.0 SWR should do the job. Is your mount the one from firestick?

My criteria included an antenna below the roof line and in the OEM FM antenna location. This allows me in parking garages when needed with continued capability when it comes time to lift. Also to keep a simple aesthetic with a multipurpose since it feeds a multiplexor to split FM radio and CB duties.

For my needs out of a CB, it will predominantly be used to communicate with someone within eyeshot while camping and on the southeast trails. The tuner says the 2’ antenna is doing its job, but I assume a 3’ would reach out further. I’ll probably tinker with the SWR when I want to dig in a little deeper with my tuner, but it seems to be working for now. That said, I’ve only had a short conversation with a passing trucker earlier today for a mic check. Something to the tune of “Woo doggy that dang ole mic sounds gooooood. Praise NASCAR.” I’ll test it out this weekend pretty regularly and report back.

Antenna mount is a Rugged Ridge kit that’s intended for JKs. Bolt pattern evidently matches for JL / JT, but getting the antenna cable and rubber body grommet into place between the mount and the interior was a job. Not sure if it’s easier for the older generation. I spent a decent amount of time getting everything hidden and secure. The mic mount is from CoolTechLLC. Still need to find a good mic clip - hoping Cobra will work well.

My mileage reimbursement for work will come in handy this Friday. Ordering a Bestop Sunrider Black Twill on Friday. Bestop has a $100 rebate if purchased before Feb 29, plus I get 10% through Northridge 4x4 with the "Litebrite" discount, and free shipping. Makes a $849 top, $665 +tax after discount and rebate, and adds 66 additional entries into their Gladiator giveaway too. Too good a deal to pass up. I'll post pictures next week once it arrives. Local Northridge 4x4 center doesn't have it in stock at the moment, or at least last week when I checked.

I have the same cb unit... 2nd Jeep with it. I had an issue with my first one, the cable extension stopped working after awhile (that little black box and cable in line). I eliminated it and never had the issue again... just giving you an FYI if you start having power/issues with your unit.

Enjoy.

That’s a nice looking rig. I have been looking at these rims myself but my wallet said NO.

Awesome ! Share us more pictures. On what tires you're thinking of installing ? What size ?
I’m going with the trusty BFG A/T KO2s 37x12.5s, Mopar 2” w/ Fox shocks, Teraflex 1” spacer, JKS trackbar and a Fox 2.0 stabilizer . I have everything but the truck lol. I should have it in 2 weeks.
