I guess this post falls under the category of "so what?" but maybe it'll help someone making a decision about upgrading the standard tires on stock Overland rims.

I've never liked the Bridgestones that came with my Gladiator. They were terrible in the rain - stopping, turning and taking off on slick roads. They also had some sort of "force induced vibration" at highway speeds that came and went despite rebalancing. So, when I got a nail in the left rear at 34,000 miles (they were nearly down to the wear bars already), it was just the excuse I needed to replace them.

I'd toyed with the idea of 35s and new rims but it would be purely be for looks - I rarely go off road and even then, it's pretty tame, dirt roads with few if any obstacles. I looked on-line at manufacturers specs for replacements that were the same outside diameter as the original 255/70 R18s but wider, that would still fit the rims.

I settled on 275/65 R18 Michelin LTX2 Defenders which are the same diameter but almost an inch wider than the stock size. They are one step up from "pizza cutters" but they look better IMO and man, such an improvement on the road over the Bridgestones (they should be for the price).

In any case, I think the truck drives and handles much better and the speedometer is accurate over a measured mile (60 miles an Hour for 60 seconds).

I really like my Overland wheels too, especially because they are part of my 80th Anniversary Edition trim. It's just my opinion but I think 37s just look right on the JTs. In fact, after I bought my Jeep, it had 35s on it already. I knew I would eventually get a set of 37s on there. I ended up with a set of 37x12.5x18 Falken Wildpeak AT3s. Discount Tire had no problems with mounting those on the OEM 7.5" wide wheel. Very happy with the ride quality with the lift & tires. I use mine strictly as a daily driver. Side note: I have black OEM style lug nuts on there now

Mopar 2", but I swear I gained much more than the advertised 2". My old JKU had a 2.5" lift and I definitely have to step up higher to get into the JT.

I love my Bridgestone all season on my overland and I get no vibrations at any speed even at 90 mph on intersate 70.
I also get 22 - 23 mpg on gas Around town. Highway 25-26 plus ! I only have 12,000 miles but seem to be wearing great ?? They also ride well and are quiet !! It’s funny everybody puts bigger tires and lift on and then complains about mpg, ride and problems with suspension, just saying !! I must be getting old I use to modify everything lol !! I also like the stock wheels. Yours looks great with wider tires !!

I really wish that if I ever traded in the future I could still get THESE wheels on another JT. I just can't stand the wheels on the other models - never did like the Rubicon take-off wheels I had for a while, and not a fan of the Mojave stock or optional wheels. (sorry, Mojave owners, just not a fan of those wheels)

IMO, these are the best looking of all of the stock JT wheels -

I bought a set of Overland take-off wheels several years ago. When I got to 55k miles on the original street tires, I had a set of Goodyear Wrangler AT's (with Kevlar) in the stock size mounted on the wheels. I was going to keep the originals as spares. Three months later I ended up trading the Overland for a High Altitude. I put the original wheels and tires back on the truck and kept the new ones. Now, I just need to swap the TPMS sensors.

Like the OP I hated the Bridgestone M/T’s that came on my ‘21 Willys (used). Probably good tires for off road use. Mostly a daily driver or towed behind MH. Swapped them at 15k miles for Dueller H/T’s. Much nicer ride and IMO look good. May not receive many ducks but o’well.

That's the way I feel but it's subjective "eyes of the beholder" I think because I feel that way about my cheap black Sport S steelies. I too had the Rubicon rims in my garage and chose to sell them, at a profit, on FB marketplace. My next set of tires will be 35's and unless I can find a wider aftermarket rim that looks like the stock I will just cram those tires on the stock 7.5" rims. I like the plain utilitarian look?

I don’t like black wheels hated the standard Mojave wheels to pay $750 more for the ones with some polished aluminum, dealer dropped price from $999. Still really like the aluminum wheels I see them on a Glady, but dropping that money for something like that when there are other functional things to get done first, and finding the factory Mojave offset for pizza cutter tires might be a struggle. Then again if I found very lightweight strong wheels that would give me .00025 better MPG would be enough justification!…..Jack
Just a members wheel I liked.

It absolutely is. And why sometimes I just don't comment on some of the wheels because as mother said.......... LOL. It's subjective, it's opinion, there's not a lot of right and wrong (other than the green dash on a Mojave with blue paint - that's just wrong, but we're stuck with it)
?

I guess I forgot about the Sport steels. I was thinking more of the Rubicon and Mojave line of wheels, among others.
The Sport levels are more about basics anyway - there's reasons for what and how they are and it works and is fine. You either want a truck at that level and price point and like it how it is, or you buy at that level with the thought of spending less up front so you can spend more later changing it up. It makes sense.

I don’t like black wheels hated the standard Mojave wheels to pay $750 more for the ones with some polished aluminum, dealer dropped price from $999. I'm not a fan of the stock Mojave wheels - but a grand 95 for the "upgrades" is something to think really hard about - I struggle with that because - these come with wheels to begin with. So there's a price for each wheel figured into the cost of the vehicle.
They are saying that the upgrade wheels are worth $273 each PLUS the cost of the wheels that are standard, making the price of the upgrade wheels closer to 300-350 each wheel. Really? What do wheels cost at tire shops? 400 each?
You can buy some decent name brand (Fuel, AEV, etc.) wheels for less than that. So for 1200 you could buy a set of 4 wheels, then sell your stock wheels and end up paying less than the factory upgrade wheels. It's really stupid! Jeep KEEPS the stock wheels for use on another JTM when you buy their upgrade wheels, so it's really a huge money-maker for them. Those wheels certainly don't cost them even 200 each to buy from a supplier.

I did argue that they should be cheaper then the all black ones cause there is less paint on them, the $750 for four sucked but it was at the very end of the dealing, and we were at the point of ordering ones at dealer cost and he just said $750 and I said why not. Here I am three years later and they are still on! In real life they’re easier touch up nicks from off-roading , and they work fine as is as…..Jack
