When to get a first service done

I bought a Gladiator in Sept (3.6 Pentastar). It currently only has about 1.800 miles. The dealer contacted me to advise I should get the first service/oil change done. This seems a bit early to me. I have 3 oil changes included in the first 2 years.

What would you recommend in terms of when to get the first service incl. oil change done?

There is an oil life indicator on the instrument panel display. I would get it changed within the first year regardless of the mileage, especially if many short trips. I did my first change at 3600 miles.

If you search through the myriad of threads on oil service, you'll find a lot of opinions. What I've learned on here is the first service being done early absolutely won't hurt anything, and will help clear contaminants from break in. Shouldn't have to do it more often than every 5-7k (or once a year) after that, unless you subject your glad to "severe" use

Oil and filter change
Rotate tires
Check suspension and steering components (actually you should do that now)
Check coolant, brake, and steering fluid levels

Do it yourself. Get to know your vehicle.

Collect an oil sample and send it to Blackstone labs for analysis.
