This thread is for those times you get your Gladiator out in the rough. It doesn't matter whether it's rock crawling, mud bogging, overlanding, or just headed out for a weekend camping trip across some easy dirt roads. Please post up what you did, and pics and videos (or links to them) are always desirable. Don't just post up unlabeled images: Tell us about your adventure, where* and when and any interesting stories. Folks should feel free to discuss questions or add comments about wheeling posts.

*I understand the need to sometimes limit an exact location. But it would be nice if you gave folks a rough idea of what part of the planet you were on--say, "Wenatchee National Forest on Slide Ridge Road".

I'll start off with links to video playlists about two trips. The story telling is in the videos. The first was a January 2020 trip to the Big Bend region of Texas ...

The second was a February 2020 trip along El Camino del Diablo in Arizona ...

I had originally invited just my dad to come out just for some site seeing on the usual forrestry roads I hit up in Squamish British Columbia, where we would then drive the Indian River Forrestry Road. My dad learned to drive on a 1945 Willy’s Jeep in his youth so I knew he would be interested in coming along to ride with me and my kids. I didn’t think my mom would want to come but she asked if she could come along. The next thing I know, my brother and nephew wanted to come as well.

At this point there wasn’t enough room in the Gladiator so I said to my dad that he’d have to take his 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee that has never been off-road...ever. I was surprised he was in agreement because of that and we got to spend time with my family who we haven’t seen since the social distancing scare back in March.

While there wasn’t much that would be considered difficult by any means, there was some steep inclines and rocky areas that scared my 75yr old mom enough that we had to convince her that riding in the Gladiator would make her feel safer. We got out a few times to experience the river, some snow and all the great views.

Took one shot of my dad’s never before off-roaded 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by my brother.

Really enjoyed the videos. Would love to try something like that out one day. There’s really nothing like that up here close to Vancouver, BC. Thanks for sharing!

But you have much easier access to some incredible country than I do here in Oklahoma.

Note, there are 3-1/2 hours worth of videos after short teaser ...

Went to do Tin Cup this weekend. Iced over up top and still not passable. Ended up checking out St. Elmo, a ghost town in Colorado. Shockingly good gas mileage for altitude and mountain driving. Lots of downhill driving probably helped.

Little River Canyon Rim road, just outside Ft Payne Alabama. Ok, so it wasn’t a dirt track but the family loved it. Been coming here since high school. Zoom in on the point in the foreground, its actually another overlook on the other side of the canyon.

Last week. AZ and CO. I live near San Antonio TX.
I recognize Black Bear, Imogene and Schnebly Hill. Anything else? Did you drive Black Bear Pass, or just up from the bottom to the one-way section?

Man, I am so jealous of the scenery you guys get to see and explore. I live in a beautiful area with ocean scenes everywhere you turn but nothing like this.

Ophir, huh? Surprised I didn't recognize that. Drove it a couple years ago when running the TransAmerica Trail. You can see it again here, if interested (9:04 if not forwarded) ...
