I don't know why but when people say they have a Jeep Rubicon, Jeep Sahara or Jeep Mojave it drives me crazy it's the trim level not the Model. Anyone else feel this way?

Have a friend whos daughter went to drive a "top of the line" jeep and complained about the ride. Of course it road rough, it was a rubicon. She had no clue, that annoys me.

But if your asking a question about which trails to ride or suspension modification, not so much.

Drive me crazy? No, but I understand the annoyance. It conflates and confuses things when people just throw every random vehicle attribute into a discussion.

Like, "JLUR wheel/tire takeoffs for sale"... The fact that your Jeep is a 4-doors has nothing to do with the wheel or tire size. I've had people call my wife's 2-door a JLU as well. People just don't think about what they say most of the time.

Is the Rubi still "top of the line" if it isn't the most expensive trim level anymore? ?

Even worse is everyone referring to them as “rigs”

“what do you think about my rig”

“nice rig”

I feel the same about stocks and foregrips/guards being referred to as “furniture”

can I also ask that people stop naming their rigs?? Ridiculous!

i don't think i've ever seen anyone reference only the make and trim. I've seen people omit the make and state the model and trim, or state all 3.

As for the specific feelings about the trim being important... i have a real weird relationship with my truck on this matter. Part of me wanted to rip the mojave stickers off as soon as i got it. Flash just isn't my thing. I'm the kind of person who'd take the M badge of a bimmer or the AMG badge of a merc, and yet here i am a year into ownership and it still says mojave, and I can feel the part of me that wants to take it off shrinking with each passing day.

it's almost a guarantee that Mojave is less recognizable to the general population than M or AMG, and yet i can't part with it.

In the same respect, a Ford Raptor is just a trim level, and so is a Dodge Power Wagon. But If you ask anyone what truck they drive they certainly aren't going to say they have a "Ram 2500" or a "Ford F-150" if they have either of those.

Rubicon indicates mechanical, aesthetic and electronic differences over the lower trim models. To a lot of people that is an important distinction, and in a lot of conversations it becomes valuable information .
