Looks like that is an aftermarket switch. If so, could have been lights, amp, etc.

Used truck?

That's not a factory item. Best guess is they prior owner had a light or something set to it.

I had one of those in my truck. No idea what it was for.

In order to figure it out, I would push it every day repeatedly for 5 minutes.

I kept doing this daily until I got a letter from another jeep owner in Australia asking me to cut it out.

As other have said previous owner probably had some accessory installed to it. I would at least poke around a bit to ensure they didn't remove whatever it was (light bar, amp, etc) and leave the wires just clipped off and capable of being energized when the switch is flipped. People do all kinds of sloppy and/or dangerous stuff with wiring that can cause you issues down the road.

With a previous Dodge truck, I installed a factory fog light package. The fog light harness included a switch that looked like the switch in your photo. Maybe?

Looks like aftermarket interior cargo light switch from an International box truck.

I have a switch like that, in the same location. It is the manual switch for my Power XL steps. I had it installed if in case I put bar doors on the Jeep.
