Trying to do some shopping locally for tires in anticipation of the arrival of the truck. My question is will 35" tires fit the OEM Rubicon wheels?
Also, which 35" tires do you all recommend for 80% street 20% off-road?

What will fit and what fits correctly is 2 different things. Personally I wouldn't go that wide on a 8" wide wheel. BFG KO2s are very hard to beat for the driving mixture you described. They have a nice rugged look to them and ride quiet.

I might have answered my own question.

Looks like the Nitto Ridge Grapplers will work on the OEM wheels:

  • Wheel Diameter
    17
  • Aspect Ratio
    12.5
  • Section Width (Cross Section)
    35
  • Overall Diameter
    35
  • Rim Width Range
    7.5-11.5
  • Rim Width

  • Weight
    74 :surprised:

74 lbs tires seems like a huge hit to on-road performance though. vs. WRANGLER DURATRAC at 68 lbs. But those require 8.5" wheels.
33" tires are normally around 50-55 lbs.

20 lbs of unsprung weight per wheel is a substantial hit to on-road performance. I think the rule is 3x.

So 80 lbs x 3 is like adding the equivalent of 240 lbs to the truck. FML! And that's just for 35"s. Imagine 39 and 40.

Yes, put on some 35x12.50x17's on yesterday. I went with the nitto ridge grapplers. I thought about chaning the wheels but I figured Jeep put them on there for a reason and hopefully factored in towing and didn't want to put some wheels that may not be able to handle the load. Also, stock tires were load c, my current tires are load e.

What's the ride quality like now?
Did you notice any loss in power due to the heavier tires?
Is the height difference in the truck noticeable? Will it help with breakover angle you think?

Ride quality seems the same to me, not much of a power loss to me, I think the nitto's are a better overall tire than the oem Falkens. Its noticeable but not really noticeable if that makes sense. If you want a real noticeable look, I'd go 37's personally and kind of regret not going 37's but felt like I'd need to regear if I do, plus obviously lift it. I have no idea if it will help breakover angle but It does fit nicely and absolutely no rubbing or issues with fitment.

Thank you for the update.
Yeah, 37s would be awesome, but the lift kits are not ubiquitous yet and the total investment is in the thousands rather than hundreds vs the 35s. Can you post some pics with the stock vs the 35s? I'm definitely going with 35" Nitto Grapplers first and then maybe a year down the line going to consider a lift.

OMFG!!! That looks SOOO HOT!!!
Honestly man, I know you'll love the lift and the 37s, but these 35s were made for this truck. Holy cow that is one sexy beast. Congratulations. I am very peanut-butter and jealous right now. Especially since I'm probably at least a month or two out from seeing mine.

One more question for you. Your truck doesn't look like an LE. How did you get it so early? Did you pick it up off the dealer floor? I noticed it doesn't have the trail cam and I figured it's not the LE. I might be wrong though.

Thanks! Yeah, I’m staying with the 35s, cause I don’t want to regear and lift. Only other plans as of now are a winch and side steps. I was going to order the le but my dealer friend told me he was going to get some in before the le and I could take one of those if I wanted. He sells everything to me below invoice. I don’t keep vehicles long, so I didn’t care about the le. I like to be one or the firsts, so I took the first black rubicon he got, it pretty much has everything except the front camera(I can add on) and the Bluetooth speaker. I also already sold the stock tires which is a plus.

I am assuming (read hoping) that the 25 on stock rims did not require a spacer since you haven't mentioned it. Am I correct?
