Can someone explain to me the differences between the 100s of winches available to choose from? I’m looking at WARN, specifically. I don’t need anything hardcore. I want something that can get me out of snow once in a while and will look good with the Mopar Steel Bumper? ~$1000 (is that realistic?) prices are all over the place.

Great videos online and in this forum.

What you'll need you'll have to figure out. I have the Evo 12s that has worked for me when I needed it too.

I've pulled another guy out of a snowy icy ditch after an ice storm.........
$500 plus I switched to a Bulldog winch plate to hold it.
I can't see spending a grand for something I'd use to pull me or someone else out of the ditch in the winter when these have fantastic reviews even from hardcore Jeep people on YT. VERY capable - no matter the naysayers.

Got it on sale for $515’ish. At 1/3 the cost of a comparable warn, I’m good for a while.

I have a lot of Jeep/off road winch experience, which I learned from an early age from my father. All of my Jeeps have had winches, with the majority being Warn, which I believe is the most reliable of brands. With that being said, I chose a Warn M-8 for my Gladiator. I have found 8000 lbs winches to offer the best balance of power/weight/line speed and the M-8 comes equipped with synthetic rope, rather than cable, to further reduce weight. I put mine in the factory bumper, and posted some pics here

I was going to pick up a badland winch but found a brand new in the box Warn Evo VR 10s for 300 on OfferUp so went that route. I agree though, $1000 for a winch seems pricy.

Been awhile- I think America is down to two winch companies Ramsey and Superwinch? Pretty sure warn is now only assembled in USA… 😬

Better outlet for the wires then on my Evo that is tight against the grill.

That's pretty light for a heavy truck like the Gladiator.

It had to be drilled, but no big issue. Most of the trouble was figuring out how to position the wireless modular. We were more concerned with the power wires and couldn’t get the damn cover back on…🤣

I saw a huge thread on this setup after I posted. Seems exactly what I’m looking for. I want something that can pull me out of the snow occasionally and will look good. Don’t need to be pulled up a mountain or anything. Did you have any issues with the fit in the mopar bumper; what plate did you use? What’s your setup to the battery? Do you have it hot all the time or did you put a switch in? Looks great!

Yep, this is what I was looking at! Looks awesome. Any issues with install? You do it yourself?

It really depends on your budget, and how much pulling power you want/need.

Warn has been the "go-to" for a long time, but is also more expensive. The Badlands is significantly cheaper, and pretty well-known to be reliable.

That being said, I have the Warn Platinum 12s

I have been using Smittybilt X20's. Work great, haven't seen any problems out of them and we have several in our group. I did not personally prefer the Badland as it has little to no warranty. Same cost in a Smittybilt gets substanially more warranty and I bought it through 4 Wheel Parts so I can hopefully deal with the physical store if need be.

If I was to run out and buy a new winch, it would be between a badlands or smittybilt. Both are excellent winches, and will be more than enough for what you are looking for. Most of the Warn line is overpriced for what they are, paying for the W up front
