So what's everyone using for winter tires? I'm a Jeep newbie (actually haven't picked up my JT yet), and I'm trying to figure out what to buy. Currently pointed in the direction of a BFG T/A KO2, but was wondering if many folks here run a dedicated winter tire in the harsher parts of the US.

I live in North East PA - it's not too bad, but we get a few hairy storms every year that will drop a couple of feet of snow. I've been successful navigating our winters in Continental TerrainContact AT's on my Durango and ExtremeContacts on my Focus RS. What are you all doing in your JT's this year?

I plan on getting snow tires. I've had all kinds of vehicles over the years from rear WD to 4WD and I have a steep driveway and have found that a rear wheel drive sports car with snow tires did better than a 4WD with all season.

Hands down a dedicated winter tire outperforms the rest. I run dedicated on my AWD suv, and that is a monster in the snow for traction, stopping and going. I have the stock mud tires on the JT and they are ok, I just use 4WD with the stock mudders and take my time. So far so good... if you can do both and want to, dedicated winter tires are amazing. Here in Michigan we stay below 30F for months, between the temp and snow I get plenty of use.

Just remember to take them off when temps hit 60. The summer will wear those tires down in a season or two, ask me how I know :)

I put the studded Hankook I-Pikes we ran on the GC Overland onto Wifey’s JT. They’re on JK rims from my junk. Might as well make use of them. I see the mountain symbol on the Falken ATs and they’re siped quite well. Should have tried them before switching but I’m a fan of studded tires, they make a good snow tire better. 255/70/18
Less than 2% diff in speedometer reading.

General LT Arctic snow tires, roads get very bad and county can forget to plow roads. Nothing beats a dedicated snow tire. They can be studded and last a good while

I run the TOYO ATIII in a 35x11.5R17 (Winter rated) and they did really good last year. We didn't get a lot of snow but they were excellent in the cold rain.
