Yesterday I got a check engine light and took it to the dealer today. They told me the code showed a worn cam shaft. They said that they checked the valve lift and found it to be some worn lobes. The truck has 6k miles on it. I am amazed. Of course it is covered under warranty. Any body else have the problem?
Thanks

Its pretty difficult to wear out an overhead camshaft that uses roller followers; I wonder if there was an associated follower failure. Did you get any ticking or other engine noise?

That is what I thought and so did my son who is an ASE mechanic. There was no engine noise, only a check engine light. Mystery...

As it turns out, the dealer did not replace a cam shaft. Instead, they did another program update as required from the factory. We will see how this works out.
