You don't need to pull the fender to change the Aux battery. Turn the wheels all the way to the left, take the bolts out of the fender liner, and reach up behind it. It folds back enough to do the job. At most, you may need to remove and replace the two big plastic pins in the outer bottom corner of the fender liner.

As of your post, you have/had 2,654 messages on this forum and 26,542 miles on your JT. You may want to play the lottery tonight. And that is low miles for three years.
Shit, that’s nothing. Bought first week of October in 2021.

I almost made it 3 years but my OEM batteries have died. 😕 Everything was fine yesterday but this morning was click-no-start. I knew it was coming so I should have ordered batteries to be ready but I didn’t. 🤬

Three years seems to be the tipping point. My JT's aux battery was shot at 35k and 3 years. I did a preventative replacement of both batteries in my 2018 JL right at 3 years. They were still working, but I wasn't going to wait for them to croak. In the JT, both were replaced under warranty. The dealer's practice was to replace both if one went bad. Good on them!

In the JL, I replaced the aux with an AGM and the main with an Odyssey pure lead AGM. Hopefully that one will go a long time. It is at 4 years now and going strong. Both of them are.

At what voltage can you start to tell its time to replace?
I think mine is at 13.9 under load right now.

To get something close to accurate, you need to disconnect the negative cables and separately charge each battery. Let it sit for a while and then measure. Fully charged, with no load, each battery should read 12.8 volts.

It has a 'Smart' charging system that varies the alternator output based on electrical demand. After the initial start and warm-up, if it stays between 12.7 and 13.0, the batteries are charged and presumably in good shape. If it stays around 14.5 then it is trying to charge the batteries and bring their voltage up to an acceptable level. During regular operation, anything between 13.0 and 14.0 is 'expected' behavior. The only clear signs of an issue are the screen messages that it is charging and the ESS or Aux Switches are unavailable.

I replace batteries in my vehicles at 3 years, in Arizona the heat kills them. I am sure they would probably last longer than that, but the batteries are really not that expensive so...

Pretty easy to keep track - just check voltage at rest now and then.
None-driving is a battery killer for most modern vehicles. People in a NAPA store were complaining they can't get batteries in their cars to last 4 years or more.

If you want to make them last longer, BatteryMinder will handle it (I put a tag on my door handle when it's plugged in to remind me but with this setup, it would simply pull the connections apart and do no damage) ->

I can tell just by observation of the running voltage how things are going and if it's been sitting a bit too long.
I don't know what the @#$% I plugged the BatteryMinder into that blue extension cord. I had installed an outlet just inches away several years ago - geesh -

This is ingenious. Was there a pin that was direct to the positive battery terminal? I guess there's a spare terminal in that socket and you ran the positive through it, and just tapped the ground?

I better do the same mod. Thanks for the idea.

Since we're talking batteries, I'll throw a plug in here for Duracell auto batteries (you can get them at Batteries Plus). 4-year free replacement on mains (aux batteries only get a 6-month warranty, which should tell us all something I guess 😂 )

I knock on wood whenever I mention this, but I have a duracell in my old camaro that's pushing 10 YEARS old now (the battery, the car is 41 lol). Granted it's a fair-weather car, and the battery gets disconnected each time it parks in the garage, but still. That's long enough to make the Energizer bunny take notice 😂
