Hey all and yay, another tire/rim thread. Help us choose what to mount on what, ...

Vehicle in question JT Rubicon, stock.

We got the Falken M/T on the vehicle when we bought it.
In Germany in winter one requires the 3peak snowflake icon for insurance purposes and a friend is going larger tires. He would sell me his Geolandar AT 285 75 r17 for winter, but... he suggests, buy cheap takeoff rims (for which we have the documents that state you can legally mount large 34" tires on them) for and mount his on those.

How about a different idea.
Mount his on the stock rubicon rims (also have the documents for those) and buy some beadlocks to put the Falken on for now (should be possible right?).
Then if we want to go bigger we can. (the rubicon rims are 7.5" anything larger than 34.x so just under 35s is not legal on that width)

This way we don't buy double, obviously the beadlock rims are expensive here.

What do you guys and girls think :)
Buy cheap now and then buy a complete new set or future proof now...

Best regards ✌

Sounds like you're planning for the future and following the "buy once cry once" mentality. Sounds good to me.

Not sure you would need beadlock rims unless you are off-roading and airing down below 10 or 12 lbs of air pressure. Maybe overthinking it a bit.

You are a 100% right. Yes and yes.
This vehicle is going to go to offroad parks(best we can do in Germany) but also tour to many countries that still have true nature and offroading. So airing down is defnitely going to go under the 15psi for some of the routes, and there will be a lot of crawling, washboard, gravel etc.

If they were a tire that was widely sold here, maybe...
They are not sold in Germany, except by a few specialty importers. Wheels still go through accreditation here... which I doubt they have at the quantity they are being sold.

I have the Falken, why waste them

also:

Jeep Gladiator Yes, sigh, another tire thread. Help us choose! JT Rubicon Falken for Summer, Geolandar AT for winter, but... 1651676231408

That is per wheel sir...

Also still the same problem, on 34/35s not legal on stock rim.
Wasting a set of good tires and rims.

Jup :) no problem.
It can be a bit crazy staying ahead of the regulations while not having infinite pockets.

Toyo open country
Toyos are M+S here no 3 Peak snowflake symbol that I can see, also not that easy to get but seam to be called summer wheels

Nitto Trail Grappler 35x11.5x17
Nittos are great, but are they not also mud terrains (means m+s). I already have tires for summer (they need the 3 peak with snowflake, and a mate has some Geolandars AT that have the symbol which I can get cheap )

Kenda Klever 35x10.5x17
They are not being sold here in that size as far as I can tell.

I can get a well priced set of all seasons that meet winter spec from a friend (win win)...
Don't think we need to go through all the alternatives of tires I could buy instead.

I also still have the Falken which are doing fine.

It is more about do I buy a set of Sahara/Rubicon rims to put the allseasons onto or do I put the allseasons on my rims that currently have the Falken on and fork out 3000€ on Beadlocks, so that when the Falkens are hard/worn out in future I can replace them with any tire I want, and have the benefit of airring down a bit lower.
