Always been a fan of George's guitar work, and his slide playing is unique.

I’ve been in this weird music space of late. Summer time naked drives I’m blaring Dutton Ranch Freestyle Radio on Spotify. My wife thinks I’m crazy listening to this “country rap” but it bumps and it’s entertaining.

Choice Of music changes the whole experience! Most of mine in Rock mentioned, other than maybe George Thorogood, Allman Brothers. My summer music right now: Surf, like the Ventures and Dick Dale etc, Reggae, Jan & Dean, Jimmy Buffet, War. I do get tired of endless guitar, so some 80’s swing as well like Brian Setzer, Big Bad Voodoo. Some Trombone Shorty. And a playlist of only hot rod soNg’s.

Sometimes vocals really bug me, so I’m always LOOKING FOR RECOMMENDATIONS
for non-snoozy instrumental albums of any genre (outside of jazz and Classical, have those covered).

Beyond Rock I highly recommend a series of albums called Ultra-Lounge. This is older 50’s-60’s music, remixed to perfection. Try #2 “Mambo Fever to start, I guarantee you will shaking your butt in the seat. There are several other album series by the same name, it’s this one:

Try this - but not if you're feeling "down" or just broke up with your girl.
Killer guitar. Slide solo at a bit after 2 minutes by George, then Alvin finishes it out.

Wow. That was great Bill! I have never seen that piece before. George was a master slide player.

If you are as big a Beatles fan as I, you will truly appreciate John's picking ability as well in the 2021 documentary "Get Back". It chronicles the weeks leading up to and covering the last live Beatles performance on the rooftop of Abbey Road Studios. Hours of pure enjoyment. It provides your own personal seat in the studio to witness the ups and downs while these geniuses of rock and roll craft so many of their late classics.

Thanks again!

For albums, my go-to choices are always:
  • The Beatles (White Album, and you gotta dig album 2 or you’re missing the full ride)
  • Deja Vu — Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young
  • This Is The Moody Blues (but skip “Timothy Leary.” That song just rubs me the wrong way)
But every time a big road trip starts, I go one of two ways:
  • “Black Water” by the Doobie Brothers. Same song my brother played when he brought home his sweet ‘73 Camaro LT in the summer of 1975.
  • “Good as Hell” by Lizzo. Definitely out of my standard playbook, but my kid offered it as their go-to road trip song, and damn if it doesn’t just pump me the heck up every time.

1. Anything Chris Stapleton for killing miles on road trip.

2. Early Zac Brown Band before he got all “experimental”.

3. Early 90’s Snoop & Dre…top off and cruising in town(no gin & juice in the Yeti, pinkie swear)

4. Hybrid country/rock or country/rap… Hardy, Breeland, etc.to match heart rate and rpm’s

5. 80’s &90’s rock/metal … Metallica, Motley, Poison, Scorpions, Quiet Riot, Def Leopard.

If you’re a fan of some eclectic music(and TV series Lucifer) download the soundtracks to all seasons of that series…. The music is varied from Sinatra to Metallica to blues and funk and will kill miles and hours without realizing it.
