Airlift 1000 Squeak

Installed a set of Airlift 1000 and they work great, but they squeak on compression. Is this normal? Any fixes? I have a Mojave. Thanks

Mine are so quiet I forget they are there.

Do you have the minimum air of something like 6 psi?

I wonder if some silicon spray would do any harm.......

Thanks for replying. I can’t hear it in the cab, but I do hear it if bounce up and down on the bumper. I’m wondering if it’s because I have silver springs.

Well, silver is a heavy metal, but relatively harmless in small quantities...........

Oh, paint/color.
Who knows, the finish may well be just enough different.

I wonder if the company has anything on their web site related to noises. You may not hear it inside, but knowing it's there on the outside is going to annoy you - and thinking of it as you drive past others....

What do you use to inflate the bags? I was wondering if a portable compressor or tire inflator would have enough power.

Any small compressor would work. I have a cheapie from Alco (Dad had it stashed in his garage - a returned non-working unit. He worked at Alco in maintenance before he was killed in a car accident at age 85)
it's a cheapie for sure - don't use it to inflate Jeep tires but it worked GREAT for these air bags.
They need a minimum of about 5-6 psi and a max of around 36 psi. The volume of air is low so they inflate fast. If using a powerful compressor running 100 psi - be careful.
But the little compressor I got from Dad's garage and got working (wasn't that much wrong with it but it got put in the garbage at the store as it's not worth their hassle) works fine.
I take it along with me when towing so when I disconnect I can let the air out then when I am done I can hook back up and inflate again. Likely that's how you'd use it - drop the camper and load off, lower the pressure to the minimum 5psi and drive it around, then up it again for the load.
I dug through my stuff and found an air shock air compressor from an AMC Eagle and restored it. Same thing that come Caddys and certain other GMs use for their air ride system.
AMD put it in the Eagle wagon with the tow package as it came with air shocks and a device that connected to the rear axle and kept a stable height. Put weight in or on the back, back sagged and triggered the compressor under the hood.
I've thought about mounting it in the back of my truck - use it manually instead of messing with the leveling mechanism as it's pretty rusty.....

Man that first one was a pain in the ass. I don’t have a lift so working it laying under the truck is not ideal. I ended up removing the wheel to get the first one in and that made it easier. Will install the passenger side tomorrow.

Yeah, easier wheel off (like in my pic) and with the axle drooping as far as possible.
Maybe yo can tell - the swaybar link is disconnected so I could drop one end of the axle at a time to get more clearance.
