Attempting to figure out the best tire for towing our Travel Trailer. Weighs 3000 lbs, single axel.
Our Jeep Gladiator is a Sport with MAX tow.
I am a hunter and do occasionally go off road into fields/ lanes.
We currently have original BF Goodrich Duelers.
Thank you all for a very good format for information

Have some LT-E rated tires, all-terrain tread, 80psi max. Going cross country in summer at interstate speeds hauling a decent payload plus towing a 2000lb trailer the rear tires were getting warmer than I'd like. Much cooler at 50psi. So you want load range C pumped up near the max, or load range E.

Note that those tires are 265/70-17, a bit wider than the stock highway tires. But if you have larger tires then you may not need so much pressure. Compare temperatures front and back and add air until they are similar.

Not sure why towing such a light trailer would matter on tires
No need for "LT" tires. I've never gone that direction because there's frankly not that much weight added to the truck when towing light stuff.
I tow 5,000 pounds with General A/Tx tires.
I skip the LT because I don't want a stiffer tire, I want a good ride and I'm only adding 500 pounds to the back of the truck - WAY under the load range of any standard tire you can put on these.
I suspect some get convinced you must have LT tires based on bigger trucks and heavier loads and more weight on the tire - but you aren't even coming close to the load range of a stock type tire. Keep the pressure up - I run mine about 3 psi higher when towing - look at the sidewall for the max load and psi at the max load and figure in between when you load up the truck.
If I have tires that I normally run at 36 psi, and the max is in the upper 40s for max tire load, I run the rear tires up to closer to 40 psi when towing, then back down when I am not towing.

I've never once lost a tire on a tow vehicle and I used to haul farm iron - tractors and antique engines that would make the springs on these things collapse. I've never lost a trailer tire, either.

I usually stop an hour or so into a trip and check the temp of the tire sidewalls, bearing areas of the trailer and so on - my tires have never once felt warm to the touch.
When towing, I figure with all my stuff and that 5,000 car hauler behind me, I'm pretty much topped out for my Overland - and yet my tires never are even warm at 38-40 psi when towing.
Don't know how others are getting their tires so hot or having trouble.

If you are taking the JT on rocky trails, etc. you could go to Falken AT3W tires.

Keeping in mind if he's got a max tow larger tires cut into towing abilities

Oh, lordy...
That's like asking, "What's the best oil to use?" You're going to get many different opinions.
But listen to @ShadowsPapa as he usually has the best answer.
It helps that I agree totally with him this time!

However if you've got the stock Dueler HT tires, I'd recommend getting some Dueler AT tires, as the traction on the HT version is very poor on anything other than dry pavement.

Like given for that last bit - wish I could also tack in a LOL like for the one statement before the "However........"

I had the Dueller HT tires on my Overland and nice enough, GREAT ride, great mpg, but not great in the wet and not great winter tires.

Pretty much whatever someone is running at the time of the post will be the best tire.

I love the General tires I have - had them on the 2020 as well for about 14,000 miles and had them moved over to the 2022. But I will be comparing them to a couple of others when the time comes for replacement because technology and materials change.

We have a small ~2k pop up and I towed it no problems with 35's A/T's on. Like ShadowsPapa said at that weight it's a non issue really.

In my case it was a pretty heavily loaded cargo area and cap as well.

And the LT tires are stronger for off road.

Falkens are available in truck-rated versions of similar diameter to the stock tires he has, to keep the towability.

I am very happy with the stock Duelers.

Towing 3K lbs I even do not recognize ...

And for light off road use the tire is also ok.

Only drawback is that it is not looking cool ...
