I've been thinking about how to carry just one, and it looks like my most probable option is going to be to use the Thule Sup Taxi I already own from my previous vehicle plus the Thule Square Bar Evo 150 with the Rapid Gutter Foot Pack (still to be purchased).

The Sup Taxi can be used for two boards depending on your board size, my experience is limited to one for now but could certainly see loading two with a small foam pad/shim in between them stacked. You'll likely need to remove a fin from at least one of the boards due to the stacked nature if you go this route. You'll see a ton of mixed reviews on the product, I fully agree with all of the hate for how the strap feeds through the locking mechanism, it's a pain in the @$$, but if you have a little patience you'll be fine with it and once the straps are in the locks they are super secure. It's a pricey setup, but I won't lose any storage space by trying to finagle them into the bed.

Yup you just need the hitch bed extender. Just stagger the boards so your fins aren’t getting in the way and strap them down. I have bags for mine so they stay clean and don’t get chipped.
