Anyone using Spot X Satellite Messenger?

Got a SpotX for Christmas. My 12 year old son and I are preparing for a camping trip in My Gladiator to Wyoming from Pennsylvania this coming summer. Thought this would be good to keep in touch and track progress. Looking for ideas, suggestions. Haven’t hooked it up yet. Also running GMRS radio for localized comms, iPhone for cell/nav and factory navigation system plus a compass and good old paper maps. PFA. Thanks

I don’t have a Spot myself. I use a Garmin inReach Explorer +


A very valuable tool anytime you are wheeling. Especially if you are alone!

I have mine tethered to an older iPad Mini 4 with Gaia maps. Great way to know where you are, and where you can explore.
