Some of ya aren't reading the fine print or are totally misunderstanding the program. You receive your membership number usually within a day or two, via email. You can place your order then if you chose to do so as in most cases your Jeep isn't going to arrive within the 30 days that TL request that you wait.
Then in a couple of weeks you will receive your official TL membership letter along with some swag, T-shirt/stickers/coupons. From that point on you have one year to generate up to two control numbers. Here's the fun part: your control number is good for one year from the date that it is generated. So if your membership is active for 364 days you can still get a control number that is valid for a year. This can be verified with Mandy who is the one who will answer the phone at TL.
I also know it to be fact as it's what happened to me as I was getting ready to place an order back in March of 2021. Got my membership in January. As I'm getting quotes from seven or eight different dealers I get wind of the Gobi rumor. Wait and wait and wait.
It gets down to crunch time, my 1 year TL membership is getting ready to expire, I call TL, get my control number, Gobi is released early this March, order is placed in Idaho and here I sit.
Anyway, lots of misunderstanding on how TL works but they are just a phone call away to help clear it up.
Dealers on the other hand: brought affiliate rewards up with one that I was working with and was told flat out that they are not a non profit organization. No shit Skippy.
