I've owned a '98 Cherokee, a '06 TJ, and now a '20 Gladiator. I have not had any issues with any of them. My experience with Jeeps has been 100% reliability - and fun! ?
Good pics - they really make your point. I personally think the top one is more indicative of the actual, in-person color, for someone who hasn't seen one up close and is thinking about it buying.
Approaching 24K miles on my 2020 Rubicon with no issues yet. Out of caution (mostly concerns over the electronic gadgets that can easily malfunction) I did opt for the Mopar extended warranty recently. After checking around (including a no-reply from the dealer I purchased the truck from) I went...
2004 Wrangler TJ with no frills - manual transmission, no AC, no power locks or windows, no cruise control. The Gladiator still doesn't feel like a "real Jeep" after the old-school Wrangler, but I love it!
I'm sooooooo happy I got mine when I did! When the Gladiator was (re?)introduced, I told myself I was going to wait 3-5 years until they work the kinks out and there is an active used market. Then, after about 6 months I decided to go for it - I'm not getting any younger, and if I wait until I...
Shout out to Gatorized for the reference to DIY passive entry upgrade. I finally got around to doing that myself and it worked perfectly. Couldn't be happier!
I switched between hard and soft tops about every 6 months on my 2003 Wrangler (TJ) for years, and have continued to do so on my Gladiator since 2019, with no issues. At least none that I would say are endemic to the design or practice of swapping tops. An occasional squeak or air-gap MAYBE...
Congrats! I have the same one except black fenders. I hope you like the transition from Tacoma (or anything) to Jeep. I had a Wrangler TJ with no options (not even AC) prior to my Gladiator, so I got used to the "Jeep things". And of course the Gladiator is luxurious by comparison...
It was a close call for me. It's been a while, but as I recall, it came to about a $2500 price differential starting with the lower trim and adding the things I wanted (upgraded wheels, larger tires, leather upholstery, etc.) I opted to go with the Rubicon for resale value, even though I plan...
Nothing new here, but:
I would kill for a removable / flip / power back window on the hard top. The thing I miss most about my Wrangler is the quick windows down / back open ride when I didn't have time to remove / lower the top for my commute, between rain storms, etc.
I. Hate. The. Key. Fob...
They used to say figure about a 30% loss the moment you drive it off the lot. I don't know how accurate that was / is, but I think in principle it's true - the decline in value is steep in the first months / years. Think of it this way - if you went to buy a used one with say 17k miles on it...
What brand of steps are those, and how do you like them. I'm still waiting, but I fully expect the wife to insist on some steps for my Punk'n Gladiator Rubicon. (Personally, I like watching her hike up her skirt to jump in. ;))
