Been a while here but wanted to update the thread.
I traded the JT in for a 21' RAM 2500 Cummins in August. Got $56k for the Gladiator and paid $1k under MSRP for the RAM. A fair (if not great) deal in my opinion.
I'm extremely happy I made the trade as the RAM suits my needs far better. Full...
I live in a mountain town en route a recreational area. On my 12 minute drive to the grocery store each day, I see on average 12-20 JLs. Waving that many times on the way there and back is a bit annoying sometimes, yeah.
To be fair, I do prefer anonymity.
Best car I ever owned in the snow was a 1986 Subaru Loyale. 47hp and had 4H or 4L. That thing with snow tires was an absolute tank. (Far slower than a tank I imagine.)
Im definitely thinking my heater control unit is out of spec now after reading people opinions.
When I turn the temp up a couple degrees, it takes 5 minute for the heater to react and then it turns into a blast furnace. When I turn the temp down a bit it sometimes doesnt respond at all, and...
Thats good info, thanks. I'm looking at the Cummins in the 2500 so would expect better gas mileage there. And I would hope RAM Laramie would have a cushier ride than the stripped down commercial model but I definitely have some test driving to do.
My guy at the RAM/Jeep dealer just said the...
When I bought the Rubi, I dropped off a 2017 RAM Hemi in trade. That truck averaged 17-20mpg over 36000 miles.
My Gladiator now has 4600 miles and averages 15mpg on the same commute.
To be honest I don't mind the 15mpg but the RAM was a damn rocket ship compared to the Gladiator AND got...
As I wrote in the post, I’m not terribly worried about mpg. My previous truck was a RAM Hemi and it got 18mpg and it also had TONS of power.
If I get a 2500 it would be the Cummins. Great mileage.
If I go with the TRX, I’d get the worst fuel mileage in the market along with 3 x’s the whp.
I need the bed to maintain the property but the RAM I had before the Gladiator was as good as any SUV or AWD wagon in the snow.
Agree with you completely on the Jeep. Fun and capable, hands down. Wish I loved it.
4WD Auto on the RAM works fantastic on snow, ice, rain covered roads etc. The heater is a proper heater, not a enigma wrapped in a mystery like the Gladiatior. 20mpg is much better than what I get in the Jeep and the power put our by the RAM annihilates the Jeep.
All that, plus nobody waves at...
Not the thread I pictured myself posting when I picked up the car from the dealer in August 2020, but here I am.
I bought the wrong rig, thats it. My sting gray Rubi is an excellent vehicle. Decent driving on city streets, easy to commute in, handled road trips well. Reliable, fun, simple etc...
