I’m not by any means claiming it was the sole reason, but there were multiple issues that they were addressing alongside the upgrades (rocker failures, left cylinder head).
Well, there’s a ~10k backorder that seems to have held steady since at least March or April, resulting in a 3-6 week wait for most folks reporting the issue. That suggests many more are impacted than those currently in the backorder queue.
I understand where you are coming from, but your math is disingenuous. There were thousands of failures that had the last version of the tick (which prompting a redesign of the top end). Now we certainly have fewer than 10M PUG engines, and fewer still 2020-2023ish (zone where we are anecdotally...
I’m in the same boat. I’m just fortunate to have a TJ to drive while my JT is broken. I’ve had the goodwill claim in for 4 weeks with no updates and another 3-4 week wait for parts. I’m sitting at just shy of 62k, but still inside of the 5 years.
The dealer quoted over 5k for parts/labor if...
To add to the anecdotal evidence. 2020 Sport S. Mine started audibly ticking just past 60k in the middle of a cross country drive. By the time I got it to the dealer I was at 62k. No lights yet, but the dealer wants to replace both right side cams. It is devastating that it happened right out of...
Final update in case anyone stumbles into this thread in the future.
I put the bolt in without the track bar and used a big ass harbor freight adjustable wrench to bend the ear out. Reinstalled with sufficient clearance to tighten the track bar bracket without any contact. Results: the shimmy...
That’s my thought. I was able to put the bolt back in and bend the tab out slightly. I touched up the finish on the bracket and will test it out in a bit.
-edit- I did keep a pretty close eye on the torque and even bumped it up as much as I dared. Replacing it with 9/16 grade 8 was on my list...
I dropped the track bar and it does look like this could be the root of my shimmy issue. I am going to try and bend it first, but I think I’ll end up grinding.
Hey all. I searched around for this issue but couldn’t find it. I installed a rock krawler adjustable track bar with a mopar lift and afterwards I picked up a shimmy going over bumps at highway speeds. I noticed this during my investigation and it doesn’t seem like it is right. Is this enough...
