  1. License plate suggestions

I have 2 different sets, neither on a vehicle at the moment, but that might change when the Gladiator arrives Downunder! USA4X4 And OJEEPO
  2. Do we know when the Ecodiesel will be released?

My wife's Mazda cx7 has AdBlue. We've filled it twice in 60000km, holds about 15 litres. No big deal at all. My Isuzu dmax has a dpf filter. But instead of waiting for a sensor to tell the computer to do a burn when the dpf is getting clogged, the Isuzu does it every 500km whether it needs it...
  3. 3.0D is $4000 on the Wrangler

There is a Duramax 2.8lt diesel sold here in the Holden Colorado twin cab Ute. I assume it's the same engine? If so, nothing outstanding from what I've read and heard, gets the job done.
  4. EPA MPG ratings released for Wrangler Diesel

Keep in mind that the USA isn't the only market for the Gladiator, and especially the diesel. Here in Oz, the highest selling vehicles are twin cab utes, and yes, 99 % are diesel. It's not unusual for unleaded to be up to 30c per litre dearer than diesel. Diesel makes sense around the world...
  5. Diesel Performance

Hmmmmm not sure how recently you've driven a modern turbo diesel..... Diesels are hugely popular here in Australia, it's all I've driven for the past 15 years (except for my 74 Ranchero!), even my wife's Mazda CX7 is diesel. My Isuzu Dmax twin cab averages around 8.8 litres per 100km around...
  6. What’s this Warning Light?

It's not long ago that the first oil change was a few thousand kms. Now, in my Isuzu DMax the first oil change was 20000kms! For a diesel! I did it at 10000km anyway, so every 20000km the dealer does oil and filter etc, I do oil every 10000km Isuzu have been building light/mid size truck...
  7. What if: No Diesel?

Yes, having travelled to China, Vietnam, Cuba and Mexico over the past 3 years, I am convinced that nothing we do in Australia in regards to pollution and emissions will make a scrap of difference to the planet overall. All we are doing is increasing our costs astronomically as the Greenies...
  8. What if: No Diesel?

Without a diesel I would buy a Landcruiser 79 series twin cab without a second thought. And without a diesel, Jeep may as well not bring it to Australia. Jeeps sales here have already dropped from a high of 30408 in 2014 to just 7306 last year........ surely that is unsustainable in the long...
  9. Not Plywood

    This blokes all over it!
  10. What about a Gladiator flatbed

Yeah but the drop bears are the worst here Downunder. Sneaky little fuckers.
  11. Overlanding, with or without trailer?

Set up on the river after New Years this year Packed up, this is the same as mine:
  12. Overlanding, with or without trailer?

Here in Australia towing camper trailers is very common, and you can easily spend 60000 aud on a well set up offroad camper. For another 10000 you can buy a full offroad caravan with toilet and shower and all the luxuries, but there you go. We do a lot of 3-14 day trips, often into the outback...
  13. Is your JT masculine or feminine?

I reckon the Gladiator looks great in white!
  14. Is your JT masculine or feminine?

My youngest son gave my oldest son truck nuts for his 4wd. His partner took them and said "I'll put them in my handbag with your other pair". She's gold!
  15. HAM or CB?

You guys still not using UHF over there? It's all we use here, and radios etc are cheap, we can also buy good quality 5watt handhelds for those who don't want an in car radio and aerial
  16. Australia to be second largest Gladiator market

Yep that's pretty much it. If the Gladiator is priced above the 79 series, sure they'll sell to the Jeep faithfull, but their market will be limited after that. If it was around the 60k mark in diesel, they'll sell well, but I can't see the Rubicon diesel selling for less than 90k, 15k more...
  17. Australia to be second largest Gladiator market

I've been really excited by the release of the Gladiator, but I'll reserve my judgement until the diesel lands here. I'll be buying as my retirement tow vehicle in 3 to 4 years. Ill be towing approx 2500kg full offroad van throughout the outback etc. Unfortunately it's going to have to be pretty...
  18. Diesel vs gas

Here when it's winter in the high country they sell alpine diesel. No big deal. Fill up when you get there.
  19. Manual Trans....what am I missing?

Im 55 and still drive manuals, so does my wife! In fact the only auto in our driveway including our sons 2 cars is my 74 Ranchero! My Gladiator will be auto though as the diesel only comes with auto when they arrive in Oz next year.
  20. Diesel vs gas

Opposites seem to apply here in Oz, especially since diesel is often cheaper or the same price as petrol. Huge percentage of new family cars and utes are diesel, some twin cab utes are not offered in petrol at all. My Isuzu Dmax work Ute averages 8.5 litres per hundred km, maybe 10.5 when towing...
