  1. TPMS - What do?

To answer a few of your questions: The sensors for FCA products are not tied to the vehicle or location. They will be picked up by the system after you drive for a little while. I ordered new ones from All Mopar Parts when I got new wheels and tires so I didn't have to switch mine over. That...
  2. CB and GMRS Install

So, I looked at a few different ways to mount mine on the molle panel. I had originally thought about placing them so the driver and passenger could see them. After looking at that I decided I wouldn't be happy and the radios would be more difficult to use. So I pointed them both at the drivers...
  3. As a sports car enthusiast, I am offended

My last BMW was a 1972 2002. That was about 30 years ago. I rebuilt it with mehle pistons, side draft webbers and a schrick 292 cam. It was a lot of fun for a little four banger. I have found myself looking at BMWs again for a weekend car when I want to scoot a little quicker than the Jeep. I...
  4. Just test drove this beast today

If they ever do release a Gecko or similar I would be very tempted. I do like that color. But but I also think my Gobi is the color this Jeep was ment to be. I do like it a lot.
  5. Just test drove this beast today

You are correct, about 3/4 on each side. I just think it is a good deal for what you get. If you don't plan to use it and are just after the "look" then it may not be worth it to you. I just hate seeing people on here say "I wish I got this or that". Good luck with it however you decide to go...
  6. Just test drove this beast today

You may want to look into this a bit more. The gears are just a part of it. The axles are wider and have a thicker axle tube like the Rubicon and Mojave. If you are going diesel I believe those get the wide track axles so that would get you there. The wider axles will help when adding larger...
  7. Just test drove this beast today

You didn't mention it but I would suggest adding the Max Tow option. Gets you the wide axles and 4:10. It is well worth the price in my opinion especially if you are looking at lift and big tires.
  8. How to get best of both Rubicon and Mojave worlds?

Here is my take on it. I have a Rubicon. I made the deal and ordered long before the Mojave was ever announced. If I hadn't, it would have been a tough choice. I am a firm believer that the front locker is the most important for off roading, at least in my experience. These being longer the rear...
  9. HELP: Rubicon Gladiator Ecodiesel does not come with the hard bed cover, and other questions to complete order

I don't think Jeep is making a completely different bed for the diesel. I have not heard about the top not fitting. Sounds more like one of Jeeps deals where they block out certain things depending on the build, or require them. You could always have the dealer order it through parts as part of...
  10. Question for those who have recalibrated their Speedometers with a Tazer and/or the like.

I have the Tazer. I have BFG Ko2 315/70 17. They are listed as 34.5 but mine measure about 33.6 ish from the ground to the top of the tire. According to tazer I use this measurement but I actually ended up setting it around 34.6 for the speed to be on.
  11. Delivery Dilemma

One of the reasons I went Rubicon was that I was coming from a Power Wagon with lockers and sway bar disconnect. The other is I wanted the 8.4 and prox entry. And I dig the hood. But you can get the 8.4 on the Sport now and the prox entry can be added. That said, I may have gone Max Tow if I...
  12. A “rear” diff in the front?

That sounds reasonable to me. I really am not an LSD guy, I like a locker. I traded in a Power Wagon on my JT and it had the electric rear locker with LSD and it was just annoying as it would drag and lock up when it shouldn't. I had it checked under warranty and they didn't find anything...
  13. A “rear” diff in the front?

Gotcha That would be specific to each unit I believe. It would depend on how the locking action of the LSD occurs.
  14. A “rear” diff in the front?

A "locker" physically connects the two axle shafts. A limited slip uses springs or clutches to make the 2 axles work together although they are never "locked" together so one wheel could still spin.
  15. A “rear” diff in the front?

As was mentioned the item you are looking at, the Truetrac, is what is called a carrier. The gears are attached to this. So if you are not changing your gearing you can probably reuse yours. That said, sometimes front and rear differentials are different and sometimes they are not so I would...
  16. Tire size of spare

Yes, that is one way to get around the locker/lsd issues but you still have wheel speed sensors in the front that could cause problems if the tire size is different enough. Either way, by not having a full size spare you take away capability in an off road or bad traction situation, say snow or...
  17. Delivery Dilemma

This has been discussed ad nauseum. The truth is that Rubicons do not have a higher resale value. They are more expensive to begin with and the actual percentage of value is higher for the lower models. I know people will argue this but that is the pure numbers. I am the oddball that has a...
  18. Tire size of spare

I can't say for sure but I would worry about having problems with the traction control system. The system will see different wheel speeds and could cause you problems driving. I don't know what the speed difference would have to be to initiate the system but having a 33 and a 35 on the same axle...
  19. Tire size of spare

I ended up buying 4 BFGs used to see if I liked them. I just picked up a used tire in the same size so I would have the same size spare. I got that one mounted up at a road side tire place and they couldn't believe I was removing a new tire. I don't think they understand how lockers and such...
  20. Select tire fill assist question

I have tried mine 3 times now. It worked the first time but I couldn't get it to the next two times. Yes the horn honks when you get to the set pressure. The lights flash to indicate it is activated. Not sure why it didn't work the second two times. I didn't really look into it. It is a cross...
