The problem with the concept as shown is the removable freedom panels..they would support 1/2 of the bar, not that practical as it would reduce the ability to go topless, or even half topless. I would suggest going with one that only connects to the rear roof and maybe extend over the front, but...

why not before buying straps, maybe try the seatbelt?? it might work, it might not, just saying if you want to try something that is already in the design of the truck use the seatbelt and might even lock if you are in hard braking......
I really like the rack and may sway me from the Maximus-3 overland rack that I have been eyeing, the only holdback on a roof rack from them is the length as it attaches directly to the roof rails (front and back) so cannot remove hard top freedom panels with rack in place.
I have found the thread I got the information on..... see the following thread, there are pictures on page three that show it in fabrication on a Gladiator.....this thing is awesome.
