I agree with your Diamondback comment. I haven't come across anything I couldn't strap to the top. I got the bedrug and my bed has stayed clean still looks new, after 2 years of ownership.
I worked at an OEM and tailgate striker rattle was a high warranty issue, also hood striker rattle. So I would bet that's what it is. Striker position is mainly manually set to adjust fits and has a lot of variation, so that sweet spot to achieve gap/flush fit requirements vs. striker rattle...

Thanks for this thread, I got my filter in yesterday and changed it, the old one was pretty dirty and I noticed an instant improvement in smell. I'm at 20K miles, first time change. Now I'll do more often..
