I went down the rabbit hole of the toothless guy on the internet, since he does seem to be right about a V8 Gladi from his videos from 6 months ago, he is predicting a $65,000 5.7 Gladiator, to which I would say HELL YEAH!
I also researched the 25 vs 26 Durango. The Hellcat Durango is $5k less...
Hereās my prediction of how it will play out. The 392JL will continue the same. They should have to drop the price a little bit because the bronco raptor went down by 10,000 but not sure if Jeep will ever drop the price. Unless the economy forces them to. I think the gladiator will get the 392...
So much for all the naysayers! Iām stoked theyāre gonna do this! But at an estimated $100,000 Iām out. I just couldnāt justify it. Fingers crossed for the 5.7!
After 54,000 miles and five tire rotations my 39 inch BFG Mud Terrains were at the end of their life. Below is one picture of what they looked like, but they wouldāve been completely bald Had I not regrooved the two center blocks recently.
I never did like 13 1/2 inch tires for real off-road...
I have it on the front lower control arms and itās holding up very well. I also have it on bolt on rocker guards. I sprayed them with the gray steal it. Later on I was changing colors and sprayed regular black paint over the steel it. Got a bunch of fish eyes in it. I used lacquer thinner to...
You can unbolt the metal retainer and push it in the door. Just be aware itās extremely hard to get it back out. And then I used a metal wire strap thingy to extend the soft retainer. Works great.
It sounds like you need to try single rate springs. As I was doing my research for maximum travel and a low center of gravity, I found that the double and triple rate springs have more windings so they are taller when fully compressed. Single rate springs usually are able to compress a couple...
I had 38 x 15 50s on my super duty and they were fine. But I would not put them on a midsize pick up. Thatās just too much weight for such a small vehicle. Steering will suck, braking will suck, acceleration will suck. Also, they have to stick out really far so that you can have any kind of...
Yeah if you can get Alex Reed at CT race works to dial in your shocks youāll be very happy. I was trying to think of that company the other day when I read the post and saw South Carolina but I just couldnāt remember what company it was from past side-by-side days.
Iām glad I was able to help you with the very steep learning curve of shock tuning!
Talking about oil weights, I know you can do that and Iāve done it with RC cars before. But to me itās quicker and easier to play with the shims then take all of the old oil out do something with it (if itās...
I think I saw spring rates mentioned earlier. This pic is referring to JLās, but it gives you an idea of who publishes spring rates. I know Eibach gives them too, I even called them to ask about some.
This is speech to text so bear with me. The smallest shim as far as outside diameter on the compression stack is the clamping shim. When you tighten everything down, the outer edge of that is rigid in the entire valve stack all the way to the largest shim. So that smallest shims outer diameter...
Hereās a link to my thread on the JL forum https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/ford-raptor-rear-shocks-on-jl.63226/
Iād be happy to help with valving suggestions. Iām no pro, but have tuned shocks for 7 or 8 vehicles. Iāve done airshocks, coil overs, internal and external bypass. My...
A friend had his JK top sanded and color matched and it looks just like a factory one. Itās the red one below. Never seen one with the texture though.
Mine lowers the rear, which has the same affect as raising the front, but with the added benefit of more head room. I originally spaced the front up with washers along with the rear mod, but it was too much angle.
