Well this whole article is flawed imho, for one when setting up to tow a 5200lb trailer you need between 520-550lvs on the tongue (10% min) 467 is too low, having less than 520, contributed to the perceived sway they were feeling. And competent person is going to also use a weight distribution...
I should mention I’m doing XD60s or Possibly Currie F9s if I can get them to Canada, but nitro is producing a 4.30 Gearset for the JL/JT Axles not sure if they are for sale yet.

4.56 puts you at about 1750rpm at 65mph on 38s that should be reasonable even on the highway, the more I look at it I wanna do 4.30s. To keep RPms in check during the winter on 35” Nokian Tires, (maybe 37” K02s?)
lots of opinions on this but the ideal tongue weight of a trailer should be around 10%. Leaving him with more towing than the truck is rated for. Anything more than 10% is putting unneeded stress on the truck itself and isn’t balancing the trailer properly.
i cant speak for Wxman but for me if im going to drop a gear at extreme altitudes, im not worried about it, up that high and climbing isn't where you're going to have much in the way of fuel economy anyway.
i dont have any empircal data to go on ,but i do think that it'll hold 7th on 40's
BC, and yes you can apply get an inspection and have your GVWR increased depending on your axles ratings, tire ratings, wheel ratings, spring ratings, and increases in brakes as well. its a bit of a complicated process, but at the end they will give you a sticker that covers your factory ratings...
i totally agree with you that changing ratios below 37's would be mostly pointless if you want to drive around at peak or just before peak torque on this engine on the highway. 38's and 40's are a whole different ball game, and imho 4.10s will be the best compromise between more power and...
Are these diesel springs, going to be able to handle a 1500lb payload? i know that the trucks arent rated for it but with 1 tons in canada i can get it cerified for a higher payload as long as the springs can support the weight.
To add to this, i'm planning on running 40's with some XD60s and i'm planning on no lower than a 4.10 gearset, this puts me at 1520rpm at 65mph (105KM/h) on the highway
