This. Very, very true. I have owned and flogged both very hard. Raptor is in a league of it’s own for that job.
Not saying it wouldn’t be fun but I can’t imagine it would be even remotely competitive against the other stuff running in that class. If you go into it knowing that and are just...
Here’s a 315/70 BFG on stock Mojave wheels. They stick out past the fenders maybe 1/4 inch. Or even 1/8th???
Other than possibly being heavier I can’t imagine fuel mileage being noticeably worse from a tire being 8% wider.
I had the EXPs on my Raptor and really liked them. For as meaty as the tread pattern is the road manors were excellent. They were awesome in mud, too. My only complaint is they were D rated and rode a little stiff off-road compared to the C rated BFGs they replaced.
I was wondering the same thing. On F150's you can disconnect the trailer brake controller behind the brake pedal in about 5 seconds and if you aren't trailering the only thing it does is defeat ASS.
I keep seeing these on FB Marketplace and CL for around $2,500 give or take depending on how many miles are on the tires. I have a Gobi Mojave and think they would look great on it but have yet to pull the trigger because of the weight. They are like 32 pounds a piece which I ain't crazy about.
I had those on my Raptor and loved them. Rode good and were amazingly quiet for as meaty of a tire that they were. Really great off-road, too. Just wish they had more C rated options in the 33-35 inch range. I had D rated 317/70/17s and they did ride a little stiffer than the C rated BFGs...
It’ll do it but it ain’t gonna like it and you aren’t getting anywhere fast. I have a stock Mojave and pulled my 4,500 lb TT With it once. It’s fine on the flat but going up hills (87 up to Payson in fact) it struggles. I bought a 1/2 ton Ram for that job after that trip.
Yes, the Gobi is awesome!
If you want wide axles, ability to do 35’s out of the box, and a bunch of other cool stuff like 4.10s and Fox shocks look into the Mojave. Was the perfect package for what I do with my Jeep.
As far as towing and 35’s I’m gonna pass. When it’s time for tires I’ll...
Crazy! I just went through almost exactly what you are asking. I had a 2019 Raptor SCAB that I used to tow a 21 ft, 4,500 lb TT with. This summer it started getting some odd gremlins, then the cam phaser issue, then the valve train started going out on it. Only had 45k miles and was still...
I won't go to D or E again on a lightish truck. I went from C to D on my Raptor and it rode noticeably rougher on and off road. The market is horrendously underserved with decent C rated tires in 315/70/17 or 35x12.5x17. As many Wranglers, Gladiators, and Raptors as there are on the road...
Yeah I know the color called Gobi but it is uncanny how perfect of a match it is for the dirt/dust out in the desert. After a few days out here it looks like my entire Jeep is turning itself Gobi colored.
Wish they had something bigger than a 285/70 in a 17 that was C rated. The world needs more C rated 315/70/17s for Wranglers and Gladiators (and Raptors for that matter).
