Haha, nice! Thanks for checking out the channel!
I am long overdue for another update. A fair bit has changed. Along with that, I plan on putting together a snow camping trip log or two over in the Adirondacks this winter. Hopefully I'll be able to find the time.
Tire weights are on the manufacturer's pages under the respective part numbers.
You're correct though. Both my 35s and 37s were roughly .5" short of advertised. I took that into account with the calculations.
Indeed. Going on 12 years. Almost there!
Thank you!
You're absolutely right. I just never experienced firsthand just how *much* weight matters. I never sit down and did the math, then dod a practical test. It literally rides like night and day. More pep. Softer ride. And, let's be...
I was very pleasantly surprised!
Not just yet! The weather has been downright crappy here the last couple of days. I'll try to post up a before and after tomorrow or the following day if the rain lets up.
Haha, you're telling me. I was quite content to stay in Tennessee, but unfortunately...
The data is in, and I'm blown away.
Same speed on cruise control. Same stretch of road. Very similar conditions (winds 9-12 mph, left quarter headwind). Both data points appropriately programmed to correct tire size by Tazer. Same Jeep loadout. Here's what I've got:
35s:
37s:
The two...

Thanks for pulling that up. So while your switch increased weight 14 pounds per wheel, mine will drop 11 pounds per wheel. A 25 pound weight reduction (difference between yours and mine) would be huge. This should be interesting! I'm looking forward to seeing how it performs.
Dang, thanks for the heads up!
I do have the 4.10s. I doubt that'll buy me much extra, but I guess it's something. From what I've read, 4.88s or 5.13s are the way to go depending on use.
Out of curiosity, do you know what the difference in weight was between your 35s and 37s? I don't think...
Oh, wow haha. Awesome! The 6 pack was on sale, so I figured I'd go for it! Maybe I'll spray down my sliders and bumpers too, then.
Thanks for the advice! I'll see if I can't knock that out this weekend.
Haha, I'd definitely like to at some point! Unless there is a drastic difference though, I don't expect it'll change much how I drive. I rarely used 5th gear even while stock, and I happily spend 90% of my highway time in 4th gear now on 35s. I'm never in much of a rush to get anywhere.
I never...
Definitely not looking forward to that.
I've been pricing out undercoating. Do you recommend it? Or should I just be spraying down the undercarriage religiously? I don't plan on bring up here for the long term, so if I can manage the inevitable rust for a year or two before I head back down...
Ultimately I would like to regear, but to be honest I'm such a conservative driver that the loss in performance wouldn't bother me at all. As long as I can eventually get up to 65 mph, I'm good, because that's about the fastest I ever go.
I feel like I've seen numerous snow wheeling videos of people plowing through more than that. I personally haven't been in those types of conditions in many years though, and definitely not in thr Gladiator, so who knows! I'm looking forward to playing in it though either way!
It'll be a lot worse than TN snow, that's for sure. ?
I've had good experience with Coopers in the past. I would have gone with those, or Falkens, if the price was even remotely close to what I paid for the BFGs.
Speaking from experience, I know the KO2s will be much better in snow than the...
Haha, fair point. From what I've been told, the roads are well-maintained up here--until the snowfall outpaces the plows. At that point, it's every man for themselves.
My job doesn't shut down due to weather. Regardless of how bad it gets, there's always a chance of being called in. If I do...
TL;DR, I'm switching from 35s to 37s and expect to see performance improvements across the board.
I will be making the change from Nitto Ridge Grappler, 35x12.5R17 E-load tires, to BFG KO2, 37x12.5R17 C-load tires.
I recall saying early on in my build that I had zero interest in going over 35"...
(Heads up--longer post, with some background, justification and number crunching.)

Appreciate it!
TL;DR, I think it's a great tent. The quality is top notch.
I've only spent one night in it so far, but I like it a lot. The footprint is massive compared to the Skycamp Mini and loading is more complicated, but aside from that it seems like an upgrade in almost every way. My...
