  1. Bronco truck is DEAD

Sad, but expected. Ford already has 2 truck platforms (Ranger and F-Series), no need for another one. It would have been a nice looking truck, tho...
  2. Roof removal breaks seal?

The roof seems to use similar seals to the doors, with the added benefit of bolts to pull everything tighter. Would you believe it if I said you should never open your doors? Probably not. These vehicles are built for this. If there's a leak the roof was probably not seated correctly when...
  3. Better gas mileage than expected??

No hard numbers, just reading a lot of posts and watching overloading videos on YouTube. Maybe "research" was a little too strong a word ? From anecdotal comments, though, it seems the Overland is more tuned to highway miles, with smoother tires than the Rubi (stock, anyway), and a less...
  4. Slammed dualie gladiator makes internet weep, some with joy, some with sorrow.

Not really my style, and not at all functional for anything but a show car. But I will say, this looks better than any angry-eyes grill and headlight mod I've ever seen.
  5. I don't understand the advantages of a Bed Rack

I use a bed rack on my Overland Gladiator. I also have a hard bed cover I made to work under it (basically just plywood coated with bedliner) I keep my roof tent mounted almost all the time, and the low bed rack keeps the tent even with the roofline, so there’s no hit to gas mileage. I...
  6. Better gas mileage than expected??

My Overland got 25-27 on all-highway tanks going cross-country last August with a bed cover and a small gear basket mounted to the hitch. Now, I get 17ish around town with a bed cover, an overland rack and a ~100lb roof tent installed. I think the Overland is a lot more fuel efficient than the...
  7. wife wants to buy the new JEEP EV.....opinions?

The Department of Energy has a pretty good site explaining how the MPGe is determined. It's pretty opaque, but at least the magical secret formula is consistent across all hybrids.
  8. wife wants to buy the new JEEP EV.....opinions?

A few cents a mile really adds up if you drive tens of thousands of miles every year.
  9. L.A. to Washington DC! 3000+ miles in a Gladiator Overland

yep. Just unistrut painted with hammered black spray paint. I’m using unistrut nuts with a plastic retaining washer (keeps them from falling out when not attached) with D-rings held in by star-knobs so they can be moved without tools. I’ll post some pics and parts tomorrow if I can get around to it.
  10. Vesper says “Hi” from Smith River Canyon

Went down to my wife’s family’s cabin in Montana today. Great drive.
  11. Photo challenge.. Show me your Gladiator in your garage.

I have a wall of tools on the left, and a play/gym area on the right. I built the lumber rack on the ceiling to hang down just enough to clear the bars of the roof rack when it's installed. It fits, but BARELY. I won't buy a truck that won't fit in the garage, I like parking inside (especially...
  12. Can we Disable the auto stop start?

You can get a Tazer OBD Dongle that lets you do a lot - disabling Auto SS is one of many options. (I also enjoy the option to turn on the rear camera with the turn signal). They're not cheap, but if you like to modify your Jeep, it offers tons of aftermarket options. That being said, I leave...
  13. L.A. to Washington DC! 3000+ miles in a Gladiator Overland

No bedliner. I started to take some pics as I was building it. I’ll probably get around to making a post about the drawers at some point. Here’s a couple of shots of the drawers in progress.
  14. L.A. to Washington DC! 3000+ miles in a Gladiator Overland

Just took the first big trip with my 4-ish month old Gladiator Overland. I was surprised at how well it went! Because of the pandemic, we didn't want to get on a plane. So we packed up the dog and the 2-year old and headed to Grandma and Grandpa's house on the east coast. We drove 3,064 miles...
