I’d like to know Who recommends said lights without resistors? There are a lot of non OEM manufacturers (Oracle probably the biggest) which make CANBUS compatible 9” drop in LED headlights that do not require programming.
Rough Country sells a nice 9” LED for the JL/JT with/without halo for approx. $500. @blnewt will tell you to watch eBay for the scratch and dents that come up once in awhile for half price. That is a great bang for your buck in the $250 range. There are plenty of threads in the JL and even here...

Tell the dealer to take them out and refund your $. Go buy some Oracle Oculus Bi-LEDs or the Rough Country LEDs that are CANBUS compatible for $500 and be done. No need for a Tazer or J Scan. I’ve seen Rough Country’s on eBay that are scratch and dent for $160.
