it depends whether what you're towing is a big heavy sail or just a heavy load that doesn't give you a ton of wind resistance. travel trailer is 8ft x 12ft sail. you could tow way more without engine struggling if you're towing a trailer that is 6ft x 2ft wind facing footprint (ie. open cargo...
It does though. I currently have a grand cherokee with the v6 which has 6800lb towing capacity. I have a 17ft travel trailer that is 4000lb dry, probably 5000lb loaded. Towing flat on highway going 110km/h it shifts between 4th and 5th with no wind. If you get a head wind, it doesn't leave...
I was looking at the diesel for towing so the truck wouldn't be at redline every time I drive through a mountain pass. I'm assuming this thing will still outperform the v6 towing but them stating the max tow is less than the v6 is concerning? IDK, the torque numbers say otherwise so I'm left...
What am I missing here? Torque is 50% higher on the diesel, yet towing capacity is decreased. Aside from folks not towing wanting a bit of extra range on a tank, what's the point? Why not save yourself 4k and bring 2 x 5 gallon jerrys? or if you're never going to tow or use the payload, get...
What I am pointing out is it can continue to charge after you drive, not that it's going to give you more charge. When you are driving, the charge controller from the solar kit will stop charging the battery so no change there. But say you are driving for 2 hours, the battery will continue to...
completely agree, however, you use hardly any power in a trailer and despite lower charge from solar, you're looking at 12+ hours of charging during the summer. The max draw I have seen is when the heater fan is running and that's like 2A or 25W so you don't need a ton to recharge the batteries...
exactly. I have never had an issue with mine. if you want to do a quick check, just go in your trailer while your car is running and check your voltage on your trailer voltage display. if it read's anyhwere between 13.6-14.7 it's charging. If you are concerned with it not recharging enough...
if someone can get in the door, they can drive infinitely until the car is turned off if you use push button start unless they have changed the coding in recent years. only the remote start kills the engine when you go to put it in gear without the fob in the car.
i've only seen it in vlc with the audio delay option where you can sync it up to match again. i have a bluetooth speaker that even has a slight delay. it's too bad not all video programs have the option for audio delay. for iphone i haven't figured it out because it's all through their software.
So in Canada we have addressed all these environmental concerns by adding a carbon tax that is basically a social program. What an impact it has made, let me tell you. I think they need to enforce it on mother nature though because that bitch starts forest fires and doesn't even pay tax on it...
get vlc player and you can set audio delay to match the voice. likely because its an apple product, whatever you're trying to watch won't be available to anything but an apple player. get a samsung tablet and problem solved.
Very interesting. I would have thought it to be the opposite where not much is saved driving but more so towing since it doesn't have to run 500rpm below redline. I keep flip flopping on the engine options. Good thing I have 9 more months to figure it out. hahaha. :(
That is a massive improvement in towing mileage. I'm guessing with my lighter trailer I would pick up an extra mpg or 2 as well, especially since I'm towing through the mountains for the most part. I hadn't really considered the diesel before but trailer life is fairly new for us (got it last...
yes and no. I tow an RV trailer through the mountains and while yes, it makes a lot of noise on uphills, it can still maintain highway speeds for the most part. Despite being gutless there, i get about 10-20% better mileage than friends with v8 trucks on the same trip. can i pass someone on an...
what are you towing with the GC? I have an RV trailer that's about 4500-5000lbs loaded and get around 20L/100 (11.8mpg) going about 70mph given there is little to no wind with the 3.6. Would be curious what would be comparable figure.
