Good point on the Jeeps... they're like Legos when it comes to building.
The VW (the Doka) is actually one of my best friend's rigs. We've got a blend of new/old school going when we hit the trails. It's a lot of fun!
Great points. I will give them a look. I think in these trying times the more local you can get the better.
Spoke to my local shop and he was all about getting the cheapest wheel you can. Mainly that if you use them then the abuse is unavoidable. So might as make it more disposable. Sounds...
Okay thanks! Thatreally doesn’t seem like a PIA.. I’ve been doing a little work and the only drawbacks I’ve seen is cost. Found a DV8 wheel on Quadratech going for $300 as the most reasonable so far.

I like your setup. What wheel/tire...
Hmm I will pay last week’s price for a barrel of oil :giggle:
In all seriousness though the steel skid plate for a sport or overland driver is well worth the trip to take them off your hands.
A great shot of why I need the 3.5in Overland Plus in my life!! Couldn't get the belly over. Still had a great time and still trying to put those pennies together for that lift!
I added a 5th tire/wheel from a JTR and rotated them @ 5k. Now one of the original wheels (not the new one) isn't showing up. My mechanic checked and made sure it's still transmitting. So I need to reset it. I tried the drive steady at 60mph for 15min (2x) and that didn't work. I've been too...
What an extensive list! Much appreciated!
I’m sure there’s a lot of variables that go into it, but generally speaking a heavier weight makes for a tougher tire right? While a lighter tire helps with mpg and street maneuvering, etc? That’s why most that off road in the more demanding trails...
Damn it you win! Coming from the north bay.
Is eagle lakes near the fordyce creek trail? Same exit I believe. Did that one with my buddies built Toyotas the week before it dumped snow. Made a lil vid on it too!
Lol seriously if you're on the forum your basically going to convince yourself to get every option and spend a ton $$$. I was going to go one of 2 ways... Buy every option or get the stripped down version of the Rubi... I spend too much time on the forum so there's your answer on what direction...
