The install looks really clean and the 7" lights kinda have a utilitarian MB/GPW look to them. I also like the idea of OEM quality parts.
If I recall from my JK days, the 7" headlights have 3 alignment tabs to help them index into the buckets. From your pictures it doesn't look like those...
My 2020 Sport S Max Tow is running 315/70R17 KO2s on Rubicon takeoff rims. I have not experienced any issues yet. I've run them with a 3/4" Daystar spacer lift and currently with the 2" Mopar kit. I like that they barely stick out past the fenders.
Thanks, I think I have seen that thread over on the JL Forum. I believe they were disassembling a factory LED headlight. The halogen headlights look like they are constructed differently, and I am hoping it doesn't require cutting to remove the lens. Maybe I will see if I can snag a damaged unit...
Yes, just weighing all the options. It seems many of the dedicated 9" headlights have built in anti-flicker modules. When I ran LED headlights on my JK, these modules were a frequent failure point (big name brand and generic). I'd rather use the J-Scan adaptation to tell the truck it is running...
Has anyone opened up the factory halogen headlights? I am considering a projector retrofit, and I am curious if it will be total nightmare to separate the lenses. My research indicates that some vehicles are easier than others, and I can't seem to find much info on the JL/JT. Thanks.
Yes, I was only able to use one of the original holes, and had to turn another into countersunk slot because of overlap. Thankfully, I have a small benchtop mill which made short work of it. If I had to do it again, I would have started with undrilled L-Track. But that stuff is hard to source.
Did you find that you need an adjustable front trackbar with the AEV suspension system? AEV says no, but popular opinion says yes. I am considering this kit and trying to get all my bases covered.
