My first order was a '20 JL. Ordered it and then COVID hit. Production shut down for a while. Then there was a recall on manual transmissions. I learned that there's nobody that can give you a straight answer. The whole process was over five months, so that's my benchmark to go off of.
As...
Patience will serve you well. This is my second order and I don't think I'll ever buy another new car off the lot again if I can help it. I'm not a person who needs instant gratification, so the waiting game doesn't bother me as much as it does some others.
So mine's been "In Production" since May 12. That seems like a while to roll through the assembly line. I don't have many add-ons (aux switches, tow package, and bed liner). If I had to guess, the bed liner is probably slowing things up.
But...could it be that Jeep is already starting to...
Have you checked out the Agri-Cover Outlander? I think it looks the best of the bunch. My only hesitation is that it folds up against the back of the cab rather than tucking away inside the bed.
I know we're all excited to get our vehicles, but I'm okay with them getting to mine built on Wednesday or so next week. A Friday afternoon build prior to a three day weekend or Tuesday build after a three day weekend seems to be asking for trouble.
I have to admit that power windows would be nice. PDL are a non-factor with a soft top for me. No sense in having to replace what someone might steal as well as the top they cut open to get in. Doors are off or unlocked.
100% agree, Reasoner. You took the exact same path I did for the exact same reasons. The Willys Sport is the best value, imo. The price increase from the Willys Sport to the Willys is pretty substantial (like $3500) and the only discernable difference is PW and PDL. When I ordered mine, the...
If you haven't done much time in Washington, it's important to know that 2/3 of the state is dry (desert-light, not Death Valley style). Don't get rid of stuff that you bought for New Mexico's terrain specifically.
This x 100! I had Coyotes on my JL that I just sold. Ordered another pair for my JT. The mounting bracket is left in place after initial install. I would always torque them down a bit further with a set of channel locks. They have never moved on me when installed and I think they look...
It is exciting, but I'm tempering expectations. My first Jeep order a couple of years ago was at the beginning of the pandemic. It was a five month process for a number of reasons. I got myself in the "island time" frame of mind for this go-around and it's really helped.
P.S.- If anyone on...
Ordered on 4-25. Just got an email from Kent at Petersons and said mine was in paint. Not sure how long from there to cross the finish line, but I'm happy that the process is underway!
I know this thread is old, but I'm not sure on what you decided to do. If you are still weighing your options, here's my take:
I would look to see what kind of offer you could get from CarMax or other similar outfit on your Durango. With the exception of air/cabin filters, I wouldn't do the...
Reverse mullet--Party in the front, business in the back.
I think it looks good and you have a nice set up. Toppers are for practical purposes, but you still want to enjoy the uniqueness of the Gladiator.
If it's like my JL, you will find it performs better once you get some miles on it. Feels like a different (better) machine at 10,000 miles than 0 miles.
This is an accurate description of the MT. I'm a lifelong manual guy and it took some getting used to in my JL. The quicker you shift from first to second, the better. I also found that the transmission got better once I got some more miles on it. Mine had a noticeable "lurch" after take...
Exact same order as mine (although I added the soft top bag). My line of thinking was very similar to yours. I feel like Jeeps should be a bit spartan in nature. Toughest decision was between Snazz and Sarge.
My dealer said, "You know that's the base model Willys, right?" I told him I...
Ordered mine on 4-24, VON on 4-25, VIN on 5-4. You'll be just fine. My last order taught me a lot about patience--covid, plant shut-down, MT debacle, etc. It was over 5 months from order to delivery.
