Here is a generic electric power steering pump write up. It states a reduction in output at higher speed. I was trying to correlate what I noticed with voltage. I understand now that is incorrect.
I...
Yes, but if the voltage changes, the hydraulic pressure changes, affecting gear box response...maybe
I'm only asking those of you out there with this above and below 50° condition to see if I'm crazy or if there is actually a correlation
I disagree with this statement, the voltage has a direct link to the hydraulic pressure from the electrically driven hydraulic pump.if the pump has low pressure the steering might not respond in time. I Believe this is how the new electric hydraulic steering works in these vehicles, the pressure...
Next time you're driving around, turn your display to the charging system voltage that is shown on your dashboard. The charging system in the gladiator is much more sophisticated than an old alternator only would be. The voltage fluctuates from 12 volts when the car is off, it averages about...
So I'm now back to this. It has recently been below 50* where I live. And funny enough the alternator puts out full voltage always when below 50*. I don't know why, just an observation.
I feel that the steering was tighter when the voltage was at 14.4. And when it goes down, it gets looser...
Changed my Sport S Max Tow shocks and springs. Swapped to Rubicon front Springs (left the rear stock). Rubicon Fox 2.0 Shocks all around. I've had the rubi take off wheels for 6 months.
It took out some rake, but not all. The front is now 1.5 inches lower than the rear
Installed a JCR Offroad Molle Panel for my high-lift. I need to get some Velcro straps for my tow straps etc.
keeps it high and dry under the tonneau. I am thinking a bed mat next. I like the smartliner
Interesting thought. I have noticed that the alternator does NOT output a constant 14.4V. It ramps up and down depending on conditions. I will see if I can tie the voltage to turning...
I flat tow my Sport Max Tow behind my motorhome. I use the Maximus3 tow loops https://maximus-3.com/jl-bumper-accessories-/jl-tow-loops#/ and hook that up to a harbor freight draw bar with i think these adapters...
My steering box was replaced Dec. 23. As far as i can tell, She seems to drive better. The 2 inch dead spot in the steering is gone at least. I'll update if anything come up.
quick image of a JL with the windshield folded down. Tie off points are limited, but there is ample room for an RF cable, especially if you are using something thin like RG316
So here's a crazy thought. Why even go inside the passenger compartment. If you are starting just below the soft top you could run it down the side of the windshield. That tube sticking out of the lower windshield is the drain hole for the header bar. if you fold down the windshield you could...
My dealer also said they felt my steering was unsafe. They ordered a new gearbox and it will be installed on the 23rd. Fingers crossed that this fixed it. But weird that it is unsafe but they let me drive it around for 2 more weeks. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
