OP, seems your issue occurred only after shutting the truck off to get fuel, potentially causing heat soak. Then coupled with the thinner air and increased load from going up hill, while towing, likely overheated the turbo/oil
Would recommend just donāt ever shut the truck off during short...

-no ones mentioned that the 3.6 JT on 35s instantly gets you 14mpg; ecodiesel will still be 20s and even better with a tune
-those claiming gas can tow better than diesel, I have some land in Florida...
Not a JT owner but recently borrowed a friends Rubicon on 35s for the weekend before buying. Both power and steering feel took away any smile I had on my face, no way I would dd that setup. Iām a hard pass until the ecodiesel.
