Another expensive, gratuitous OBX lifestyle 2024 season purchase…..
I’m trying to take on the insufferable WaterTok Stanley tumbler people with my own version based around Yeti/Iced Tea and rum/coke or LIIT.

I’m running only a 100ah system with the idea that I’ll ultimately pull a trailer with its own system. 100ah is plenty for most multiday trips with solar for an overlanding rig only (no camper)...
I have a small Gränsfors Bruk Outdoors Axe and a Gerber Tomahawk, which I like because it’s like a mini civilian Denver tool. I sometimes carry one of them. They’re small enough, especially the Gränsfors to put in the cab, under the front seat. You can also mount an axe to a rear under seat...
I know nothing about these specific power seats but generally speaking power seats allow for more adjustments and more granular adjustments than manual seats. For some drivers, especially shorter ones, power seats allow them to achieve a proper drivers position that they otherwise wouldn’t be...
For security:
If you have the SiriusXM trial with Uconnect you have vehicle tracking, otherwise you can add a LoJack or AirTags or some other tracker. Im not sure which radio you have or if the smaller radios come with that.
If you have a soft top, especially with soft upper doors, just...
It’s a Diamondback HD. The fridge is an ARB Classic II 63qt. I made a locking slider for it out of HDPE.

The reason to get the Diamondback is the ability to mount stuff to it and maximum security. Think of it as a platform to build off of as much as anything. It’s a bit much for just a cover.
Orange Animal energy or lack thereof:
I noticed Donut would run around and nip at the cats legs, which looks pretty funny. He was never rough and the cats would let him know very quickly if he was getting too far out of line. Like an idiot it didn’t occur to me that this was of course...
Yeah, you prime the pump by turning the truck to on/run with your foot off the brake pedal. You’re supposed to do this twice. I could hear the pump running and did it a bunch of times. It just wasn’t enough. The fuel filter and its cup/cap is pretty large.
People told me a Texas Heeler would be too much dog. Donut is perfect. He’s definitely intense, but I spent a lot of time socializing him and just gave him a full time job finding and retrieving different colored balls and frisbees. He’s the smartest dog I’ve ever had. Although, it does take a...
There’s design by committee and then there’s design by ketamine. This is the latter, and honestly that would be okay if it was a mancave remodel or an album cover, but not a $100k 5000lb mass of steel barreling down the road.
My first DIY filters change on the EcoDiesel Gladiator. Other than my FRS which came with free oil changes for life, I’ve always done my own maintenance, but I’ve been using my free Jeep Wave changes until now mostly being pissed at the dealership afterwards.
After doing this, I have thoughts...
Check the versions. Also I remember having issues getting some stuff installed and I got warnings about version compatibility. I didn’t have the Garmin crap out on me though. Might just be luck of the draw.
This is what I’m running app wise below. Note: I’m running Garmin 9.4. YMMV with the more recent updates. The release notes say “various bug fixes and improvements.” I hate that vague crap. I’m not sure if closing the sideloading loophole is a thing devs do for Android. I could totally see that...
There’s another app I installed that can force orientation for various apps or the unit itself. Orientation rotation has never worked right on my Garmin unit. So I got this app to force the screen to rotate. I think that’s what I used to force individual apps. I’ll take a look at the unit to see...
Yep. I had to sideload it. It works fine along with the Renogy app.

If you don’t have lots of stuff along the sides of the bed and have an open bed or soft tonneau and not something like the Diamondback or don’t want something as complex as what I’ve done, and just want to add more lighting, I would just go with the @ORACLElights system...
