I use Adam's Graphene VRT on all my trim pieces and it keeps them looking like new.

They are different. The one that goes with the factory steel bumper bolts directly onto the bumper. When I replaced my plastic front bumper with the 3-piece factory steel one, I also replaced the skid plate. I do not think it is necessary to replace the skid though, if you do not want to.
