2023 Willys ZF | Got a call from dealer service adviser stating there is an open recall, released to dealers today, for the lash adjuster. SA was kind enough, but did not know details, except that it would take several hours to perform, and it was a remedy for a complaint of ticking. I asked...
I too like Mopar factory engineered systems. The Fox shocks are the real dealbreaker for me, based on my personal experience -ride and durability have been bottom tier from Fox. Others really love them. I think Jeep dropped Fox on the Rubis now too. This may have been primarily a cost...
For some additional context, we recently did a few miles on a JEEP Badge of Honor trail, and never even put it in 4WD. We got bored and turned around. A base JT, even with HTs will do fine on a 1 or 2 trail with some common sense applied. The standard ABS limited slip software will run circles...
Interesting results. Thats a significant improvement.
Side note. As long as the predominant scent when opening my doors remains the off-gassing of poly or vinyl ester resin from the composite top, I could live with that look and be satisfied. I might still have my wife throw some shag carpet...
I have no direct experience with high mile JT front ends.
Your tire size looks reasonable. The front end parts on our JTs are huge compared to our segment competitors. By a significant margin. I wouldn’t see any danger in only replacing what’s loose for the time being.
How many miles?
A millennial and gen Z’r straight out of college will make more money putting covers on someone else’s TPS report, than a 10 year seasoned and talented Mopar tech that doesn’t get fed gravy all day by the SAs. We’ve allowed this to become normal and get upset when the dealership can’t find...
Yes, it will work in a pinch, but as noted, the sway bar becomes a big swinging lever. It can also sometimes shift the bar left or right in the bushings.
Reserving judgment until after they publish numbers. It may be a nice improvement.
From the hip though, I’d rather have a ubiquitous and legitimately larger differential assembly overall, rather than what looks like an oddly designed quasi-floating axle Dana 44, which may end up being very...
With the original factory fill at ~1200 miles, I too get some minor clatter on cold start-up. Maybe .75-1.25 seconds. To me, it sounds like chain/guide or maybe phaser noise, perhaps from tensioners or phasers having at least partially drained over night. After that initial cold start, it won’t...
Some good constructive feedback.
My first oil change around 5k, I will transition my personal Pentastar to Rotella 5w40 and a Mopar filter. Despite the aforementioned concerns about HDDOs, I've never had any issues running heavy duty diesel oil in my gas vehicles, and they routinely pass...
Sharpsicle, Not sure what manufacturing oddities you are talking about, please be more clear.
Maybe my post 58 of this thread is what you're referencing? I would call the VVL intake lifter update a normal manufacturing running change. Also, I'm not seeing where anyone in this thread has...
Wow. This is uncomfortable, but that entire thread may be based on a fundamental misunderstanding. The subject lifter/lash-adjusters featured in that thread are in fact all intake versions.
The lifter/lash-adjuster being referred to as an "Exhaust lifter", sure just looks like the first...
I found this in a different thread here. Courtesy of DC3. This idea that the I&E lifters can be mixed up really needs to be evaluated a bit deeper. This photo seems to indicate that it may not be possible to assemble the valvetrain with the lifters mixed up. The lifters are wildly different...
I know some of you are upset and you're acting out because I'm not obeying and I'm asking people to think rationally --thats' okay and I'm not taking it personally. It's an internet forum and everyone expects the forum regulars, particularly those with high post counts to get butt-burned when...
I saw some diagrams which seemed to show significantly different I vs E side lifter heights. Haven't tried myself, but those diagrams lead me to think they would not be inadvertently reversible. Need to verify.
