Price. I went by my local dealership the other day and asked about it and the rep said they expect a well equipped diesel Rubicon to be north of $70k. He might not know crapola but he also might. That is way too rich for my blood. I'm leaning towards a used JK and wait for used JTs to start to...
Jack of most trades for me. There are loads of mild to moderate trails in CO that lead to some stellar camping spots and I see mid-size trucks heading up them all the time. That plus trips to the lumber yard and metal supply shop for projects will be my intended uses. The wife also recently...
Gobi w/ black everything else is 100% my vision, man I hope they offer a color like that. Other than that, the Rubicon trim, 35s, and accessories for overlanding and the CO wilderness. I just need my JCCoin to take off so I can afford it all.
I just used Toyota's online builder and priced a similarly equipped 2018 Tacoma TRD Pro for ~$45k. Is that a fair comparison or not really apples to apples? Can FCA get away with $5k more than a top of the line Tacoma?
I this is the most likely scenario. The current model designations are already a well-understood nomenclature, at least to Jeep owners and enthusiasts. Why introduce unnecessary confusion?
The general consensus seems to be that there will be no manual option with the diesel given the size, weight, and other factors required of a manual transmission that would stand up to the torque of the diesel. I'm sure @The Great Grape Ape can jump in with specifics.
I like the sound of this. Rubtron, defender of the universe, a mighty truck, loved by good, feared by evil. There you go, FCA, your marketing is complete, though maybe only gen-Xers will get it and you'll probably be sued.
A factory spray-in bed liner. I also really hope the under-bed spare mount will be able to accommodate 35s. I'd rather not have to go to the aftermarket for that.
35s, winch (assuming the stock bumper can accommodate one), and some sort of bed rack for skis, fishing poles, hi-lift jack, etc. Like this but tubular...
I was thinking the same thing. I get that some rake will likely be there to account for tongue weight but that much of a difference will make leveling kits popular.
The two main features I'll be looking for (and will be shocked if they aren't offered almost immediately by both Mopar and the aftermarket):
1. A hard fold up/down cover that is secure when the tailgate is locked. Like:
2. A utility rack, for mounting overlanding/camping gear...
Definitely a good point about wheel/tire weight. Those are good options for sure but none are perfect (e.g. sacrificing rear visibility and length). Maybe we'll get lucky and a 35" spare will fit in the stock location.
